Day 14: S.a.D Santa Claus Lane
Christmas greetings! For the month of December, I plan to share a Christmas song each day with the hope of adding a little extra cheer to your holiday. Part of my challenge in this series is to bring to you a new-to-me song or artist discoveries. There’s no telling what song pick I’ll go with but you’ll find artists from all genres celebrating in song this almost magical, holy season.
Today’s video features clips from one of The Santa Clause films which adds to the festivities with Hilary Duff getting you to your feet with her bubblegum pop tune, Santa Claus Lane!

Today is a certain gal’s birthday and she’s finding really hard to believe that she’s now 60. Yes, you read that right 60 years old! She’d like to know where the past six decades went but happy at the same time for her overall good health because many she knows at this age have medical issues. She’ll celebrate quietly at home with her darling husband with a new cake she made yesterday which is perfectly okay by her. 😉
I’ll be here with bells on tomorrow morning with another Christmas song waiting to start your day and please don’t let the hustle of the holiday weigh you down. The holiday festivities are beautiful and fun but the true reason warms the heart better than these earthly things. Take time to bask in God’s great love. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Dear Cathy –
Happy Birthday!!! Forgive me, dear friend. I completely missed that middle paragraph or I would surely have offered birthday wishes when I first commented. That mistake shows that I’m the one who’s getting old… not you. I’m sure you are the most youthful 60 year old in the state of Tennessee, and keep in mind that 60 is the new 16. Happy Tickle Me Tuesday and Day 14 of the S. a. D. hop, dear friend!
I have always enjoyed the singing of Hilary Duff. She has or will appear in posts at Shady’s Place. My memories of Hilary are directly linked to those of our granddaughter as a child. In the late 90s when our granddaughter visited us as a toddler, she loved to watch our DVD of Hilary Duff’s first movie, Casper Meets Wendy, the fantasy film based on the characters Casper the Friendly Ghost and Wendy the Good Little Witch. I thoroughly enjoyed this old clip of a coming-of-age Hilary performing the secular pop song “Santa Claus Lane.” The Disney Channel TV series Lizzie McGuire enjoyed a three year run from early 2001 to early 2004. The single “Santa Claus Lane” was released October 15, 2002, as the title song of a Hilary Duff Christmas album, and so this performance likely aired around Christmas in 2002.
That closing cartoon is a great one. Our black cat Bootsie misbehaves the same way Santa’s kitties do in that scene. Lately Boots is in the habit of parking himself in the kitchen between the pantry and the refrigerator, knowing that Mrs. Shady is likely to give him a catnip treat from the pantry and/or a dish of half-and-half dairy creamer from the fridge.
