Sand Beach #AcadiaNationalPark 1997

Last week, I shared views from Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park from our 1997 family vacation. We spent a few days in Bar Harbor late October. You can see the fall colors in the trees. Everyone told us the foliage was past peak but we loved it – it was beautiful!

To get here, we first started on the beach from the far right corner or least I think that’s the way I remember as seen in the next image.
I don’t know who these kids are but they aren’t ours. If I’m right, we came down a flight of steps to the beach just to the right of these trees.

A similar view from the first. I have a picture of the kids sitting on some rocks with this scene behind them but I haven’t come across that photograph yet.
The hardest part about the trail was climbing from the side of the mountain in the previous picture. Here the trail goes back into the woods along the coast. The path is a bit irregular but manageable. I’m sure the next time we visit Maine, we won’t want to try to scale the side of the mountain like we did 20+ years ago. Who knows maybe they put in some steps now and if so then I’d like to retrace our footsteps.
The trail circled back to the parking lot. We took one last look at Sand Beach before we left. This is a gorgeous spot. I can’t wait to return. Hopefully next year about this time we can make it there again!

Join my #WildWednesdays linky party where just about anything goes! The concept for this mid-week blog hop was conceived as I found myself moving farther away from photography and more toward art. Of course, that’s not what this party is about. You’re invited to share anything – artwork, DIY projects, photos, music, musings, randomness, recipes, and more!

I’m linking with these Wordless Wednesday Communities… Sandee, Natasha,  Marie, & Wordless Wednesday! 😉
