Another look back to 1997 at memories from West Quoddy

This is my third installment at looking back on memories from our 1997 family vacation. Today, I’m taking you north of Bar Harbor to West Quoddy.  A couple of years ago I mentioned our time spent at the lighthouse and the wild weather surrounding our visit.  Here are the pictures to back our experience.  The day was beautiful – blue skies with fluffy white clouds overhead. It couldn’t have been more picturesque!

I have another picture similar to this where DS is looking up at the sky. Years later I asked what was he doing and he said, he was catching snowflakes. I didn’t even notice. I guess a few fell before the storm blew in as you can see this is what was behind me in the next two photos.
Right after this shot, it began to hail on us. If you’ve ever been caught out in it, then you know it’s not fun having pieces of ice hit you.
The storm triggered the foghorn which was ear deafening. Afterwards, a breath-taking rainbow appeared in the sky. Awesome, huh?

We certainly weren’t Dancin’ at the Lighthouse that day but we did a workout racing back to the car.

I shared views from Sand Beach in Acadia National Park last week. I hope you’re enjoying this short travel series.

Join my #WildWednesdays linky party where just about anything goes! The concept for this mid-week blog hop was conceived as I found myself moving farther away from photography and more toward art. Of course, that’s not what this party is about. You’re invited to share anything – artwork, DIY projects, photos, music, musings, randomness, recipes, and more!

I’m linking with these Wordless Wednesday Communities… Sandee, Natasha,  Marie, & Wordless Wednesday!

It’s been a long time for me to join the Wednesday Hodgepodge but I want to get back in to the groove. Here are my responses to Joyce’s questions this week.

1. When is the last time you experienced nostalgia?  I think it was over the summer while going through old photographs to scan just like these pictures I shared with WW.

2. September 29th is National Coffee Day. Do we need this? Ha! So are you a coffee drinker? If so how many cups per day, and tell us how you like it. Is there a recipe you enjoy that calls for coffee as one of the ingredients?  I don’t have to have coffee but I enjoy drinking it each day. I have a 4-cup coffee maker. Normally I have this all to my self but with DH working from home, I share with him. I have some recipes that call for coffee but right now I can’t think what they are or even if I’ve made them. I’m horrible about collecting recipes across the net with the hopes of preparing someday.

3. Do you find praise or criticism to be more motivating? Explain.  Praise is always motivating. Criticism may or may not motivate me. That depends on how well it’s received.

4. What’s a television series you keep coming back to and re-watching?  Right now, there isn’t a series I’m re-watching but in past years a favorite would be the show 24 with Keifer Sutherland. That was an awesome series!

5. As the month of September draws to a close give us three words to describe your mood.  If I have to pick three words right now I’d have to say sleepy because I didn’t get enough rest last night. I’m excited thinking about the cooler weather with expected temperatures at night this week to get chilly and for the fall foliage which is still a ways off. Finally disbelief,  the days continues to continue to evaporate with hardly a trace and so is this year. I’m not sure why I have hard time believing how fast the calendar pages are flying off the wall but it still catches me off guard.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Yesterday, DH & I had dental appointments.  As you know I was a little concerned about mine because it involved possible dental crown damage or worse.  The dentist said he couldn’t see anything wrong for now and when I asked about the abrasion around my crowns, he gave a prescription strength toothpaste. The magic ingredient potassium nitrate to heal those troubled areas.  I’m glad that’s all for now. Hopefully I won’t have any further worries with this. Time will tell. DH’s appointment went smoothly, too. Let’s see if we can stay out of the doctor’s office the rest of the year now. 😉

Another month bites the dust! At the bottom of my post I’m gifting to  you my October calendar page creation to help you stay on top of all of your appointments in the coming new month. 😉 Tomorrow, I’ll be back with a triple play with my Battle of the Bands (BoTB), Rocktober Mewsic Fest (RMF), and a new pencil sketch design for Rain’s Thursday Art Date (TAD).  X💋X💋, Cathy
