Can I pay you with tulips?

Taken on the Dogwood Trail in Sequoyah Hills subdivision in April

I always thought tulips were from Holland or at least this being their original place of origin. I learned that tulips were first cultivated in the Ottoman Empire. Today we know this as Turkey. The 16th century introduction of these lovely floral gems to Holland were immensely popular by the mid-seventeenth century and created the first economic bubble known as “Tulip Mania”. Due to their popularity, tulip bulbs became extremely expensive. In fact, tulips were used in place of money until the market for them crashed.  How would  you feel if someone said, “Can I pay you with tulips?

Oh sure, I know goods were often times exchanged in lieu of money during hard times or as in this case the commodity is something in high demand, but still it’s kinda crazy – tulips as money.

Incidentally, yesterday’s rAnDoM post, I featured a few new photos here from our trip into Kentucky. You may remember, last week I shared several pix of our day trip to the Bluegrass state Tuesday and Wednesday. That being said, I thought perhaps you might want to take a peak at them, but there is absolutely no pressure for you look, but this is merely for your enjoyment.

Today’s musical flashback comes from 1976. The group Starbuck (not the coffee beverage) début single hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. I heard this weekend on the airwaves jarring my memory and I knew I had to share it with you guys. I liked this song a lot in 1976 and I still do!

Thanks for joining Angela from Mommy Time Out and me for another edition of Wayback Wednesday.  We hope you’ll want to join in on the fun. Don’t worry, Angela and I don’t have a lot of rules. All we ask from our friends is to link only one of the following: blog, twitter, or Facebook URL below. It’s that simple!

It’s so nice of you to come by & I hope you’ll decide to make it a repeat visit each week to share in my musical memories (new or old) and my photo ops.

You can find other WW linkups at the top of my site. Hoover your cursor over Daily Blog Hop for the drop-down menu and click Photography Hops. Now, wanna make me (or someone else) happy today? Then, leave a comment! I’ll be hopping over to your little niche in Blogosphere soon!
