Monday's Music Moves Me

CAAC spotlighting the Southern, Christian Rock Band – NEEDTOBREATHE

My daughter sent this picture of her daughter, our LA1 after building Frosty.  Last week Knoxville got buried beneath nearly a foot of snow.  Our landscape was transformed into a winter wonderland but with the snow, Mother Nature also brought bitter cold weather.  Many people including my daughter were snowed in at home all week.  This didn’t effect us because regardless what’s going on outside DH works from home.  As long as we have power and Internet then he’s goes on as usual. However, the city isn’t equipped to treat back streets or rural roads, so you’re left at the mercy of Mother Nature.  She didn’t cooperate one bit, either.  This week is supposed to be better but for how long?  After all, it’s winter.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sunday! The theme this week is whatever music moves you.  I’m taking this opportunity to share music by a band Stacy introduced me to a few months ago on the dance floor.  Let’s give it up for NEEDTOBREATHE with their 2023 album, Caves!

NEEDTOBREATHE is an American Rock band from Seneca, South Carolina.  NEEDTOBREATHE kicked started their music careers when brothers Bear and Bo Reinhart performed in coffee houses while in college. In the early part of the millennium, after graduation, then band member Bear, Bo, Joe Stinwell, and Seth Bolt recorded a few albums under the label Bolt’s Plantation Recordings.

However, these days NEEDTOBREATHE comprises of original band members Bear Reinhart and Seth Bolt with current musicians Josh Lovelace, Randall Harris, and Tyler Burkam.  The band has scored five out of nine albums to chart  #1  on the Christian Chart Albums list.  Below, click play to listen non-stop to four of the band’s four charting singles.

Track 1 reached no. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart (2007). Track 2 is a Grammy-nominated song no. 4 and Track 3 no.1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart (2014). Track 4 hit no. 14 on the Hot Alternative Songs chart (2020).

I hope you enjoyed today’s freebie feature.  Now, it’s your turn. If you have music to share, we’d love to have you join us on the dance floor!

4M co-hostess are featured in my right side bar underneath the banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you (your choice)! To access the party, add your music post below, and visit others on the dance floor. Let the party begin!

This is a music link up.  Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music”.

I’m not sure what will happen on Monday but my Internet service is set to go down temporarily. Xfinity sent a notice saying they would be upgrading their network. I will make my rounds eventually.

I’ll see you next week with Monday’s Music Moves Me. Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

    Howdy, CAThy! ~

That’s a good lookin’ snowman with your cute granddaughter. Tall son-of-a-gun!

I never heard of this band before, but I’ve got it playing as I types these woids.

When it comes to Christian Rock, I like several Messianic Jewish artists like Joel Chernoff, Barry & Batya Segal, and the album ‘Slow Train Coming’ by Bob Dylan. Michael Card wrote some terrific contemporary Christian songs. And then there’s a little-known gem of an album titled ‘LIVING WATER: (The Surfer’s Mass)’ by The Malibooz. Imagine if The Beach Boys did Christian songs. That’s essentially what it sounds like, and has wonderful harmonizing.

Say, CAThy, did you receive the Email I sent you on January 16th? If not, you might want to take a look in your Spam file. (I’ll be praying about the weather, et al.)

It’s interesting that you referenced Bob Dylan. DH was listening to some music in bed last night when he mentioned that Dylan surrendered his life to Christ. That’s wonderful! I first heard of Michael Card when our first child was born. My BIL got us his Sleep Sound in Jesus CD. I just love it! I will try to check these others on YT that you mentioned. I sent a quick email out last night to you and then a reply to your Jan. 16th email. I’m sorry for the delay. Be well, dear friend and thank you for the prayers!

Wow! You have way more snow than we do. 😲 We had a nasty cold spell last week, but it’s easing up now. Wishing you the same! NEEDTOBREATHE has a good sound and the vocals are so distinctive. Thanks for the introduction! Hope all goes well with your internet.

The weather conditions are slowly improving. We have snow lingering in the backyard and shadowy areas still but by the this week is over, it’ll all be gone. You won’t see any tears shed here! Thanks for dropping in for a visit, Debbie. Hopefully, your weather continues to be on the mild side.

I have never heard of them but I like them. Thanks for the intro to them. Thanks for hosting this great party and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

Me, too! It’s pretty to look at but I really don’t want to have weather conditions that produces it. I’m happy just viewing snowy photographed landscapes. 🙂

      Marie,

While I still have an Internet connection, I’m trying to reply a little bit this morning. It didn’t get as good last time as forecast so I hope that means it’ll be warmer today, too. We’ll see. Thanks for dropping in for some boogie time. You do the same, stay warm and be safe, darlin’! xo

That’s a cool snowman, bravo! Hey, Seneca, SC is just down the road from us. They’re good!

    • Cathy Kennedy

I’m passed the days of building snowmen but it’s so cute to see them and our LA1 had such fun with her mommy building him. 🙂 Oh that’s cool! Have you seen NEEDTOBREATHE perform?

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Mimi,

The snow isn’t causing us any problems other than it’s just so cold. We’ve been inside ever since the weekend before last. Things are expected to improve today. Thanks for dropping in for a visit!

So, it would seem a couple of the band originators went to Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and performed at coffee houses there before they really got going. We visited Greenville last year and may go back before the winter ends and one reason is that we never got to Furman University. It’s supposed to be a beautiful campus. I enjoyed The Caves album – I listened to the entire album and enjoyed almost every song. I remember living in places that weren’t really prepared for winter the way we are in the Northland (especially Northwest Arkansas back in the 80’s) – it’s definitely a miserable experience. Alana,

I’m glad you enjoyed Needtobreathe. Knoxville wasn’t always so unprepared with dealing with wintry weather. As the years progressed, our government officials elected were more liberal than the previous and decided it best to place social matters above all else instead of the welfare of the city’s by keeping proper equipment available to clear side streets for times such as this week. These people have some screwed up thinking. I just wish people would actually remembered stuff like this when they voted then maybe we’d have leaders who do what’s right instead of what socially acceptable. Anyway thanks for stopping by to dance!
