Friday Sillies

Back2school, My face, Pterodactyl, Epic funeral, & Cats not allowed

Schools are back in session. For many in the south the kids have been in class since early August but you know I noticed the signs of seasonal change beginning with ever the slightest drop in chlorophyll in the foliage two weeks ago. I think we’re in for an early fall.

Chatuge Lake in northern Georgia [Skywatch Friday]

Another week bites the dust, so let’s send it off in a blaze of glory by getting our game face on in prep for some good belly giggles or at the very least a few snickers. No, not the kind you eat but the kind that erupts off your lips. 🤣

By the time DH realizes I have my camera in hand capturing this moment the damage is done with his digital image ingrained on all of my social media accounts. See for yourself…

Because kids  never get too many silly dad jokes…

I always said I’d like to go out with a bang but this will work and this might do just as well.

It’s an inherited disorder, cats simply can’t control their actions

.

That’s it for the sillies, now to round things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins.

1. I joined my first social media (Facebook) platform in 2004It’s generally a big time drain, especially the games. I remember becoming addicted to Farmville. Who else remembers that?  Anywho, a word of advice…don’t get started on them!

2. I wish I’d asked my grandparents questions about their early life, how they met, and a whole lot of other things. Now, I can’t.  A mistake we all make time and time again.  I need to get cracking asking some of these things of my parents before the days get away any more.

3. My DH had the biggest impact on who I am today. This is true. We’ve been together as a couple since I was just a few months short of my 15th birthday, so when you’re with someone that long then you can’t help to influence the other. Luckily, he helped me out of that low self-esteem, believing I was dumb, and ugly state of mind. He saw me for who I am and who I could be. I’m very thankful he showed me the way.

4. My Appalachian Mountains I call home is the most beautiful place I have ever been to. What else would you expect from me? 🙂  The Appalachian mountain range goes from northern Alabama well into Canada. I had no clue the range was that widespread but that’s what Wiki told me. But I can only speak of the parts of these mountains in the Smoky’s, western North Carolina, and northern Virginia.

Just a reminder, I think I’ll keep with no Friday postings when DH has it off, so this time next week I’ll be MIA.

Do you like mewsic? Do you like to boogie? If you said yes to either, then you’re invited to be my guest at the best dance party in Cyberville with ‘your choice song picks‘ spinning on the turntable right here on Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday.

X💋X💋, Cathy

The funnies you share always make my day. Thank you for that! And thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! I remember when I first joined Facebook. I’ve actually never gotten into any of the games it offers. I do use Facebook some, but it’s never made a whole lot of sense to me. Happy day to you!

      Lorraine,

Facebook is more or less a quick way to touch base with friends/family. Granted you have to be on frequently to catch a friends’ status change but what I like about it is if I’m concerned about someone then I can check out their wall for any activity to see if I’ve missed some big news. I often learn about family issues going on before my mom calls with the news. I prefer to not be over there much because I don’t want to get sucked back in. You know how addicts are? Once a gamer always a gamer. lol Thanks for dropping by!

My brother started the talk to all the relatives thing. He was too young when our grandparents passed, but now he’s interviewing (on camera) all the elders in the family.

  • Peter B.

Yup, my granddaughter is back in school (two weeks now). Love the sky shot over the lake, and thanks for the multiple laughs today! Have a great weekend.

  • messymimi's meanderings

Yep, the sight of donuts does that to me, too, although i have to control myself. It’s not easy.

All of us seem to make the same mistake, not asking the elders of our family enough about themselves while there is still time.

Hope you have a great weekend!

      Janet,

Carbs can be a bad no-no when you’re watching your diet. I’m trying to focus on protein pack meals while limiting calories. Protein is what we need to give us energy and that sense of fullness longer which hopefully stops that naughty sweets craving thing. Oh, how I wish I didn’t like goodies! I manage the situation far better than I did years ago and I am not drawn to sweets as bad. Don’t get me wrong, I still love to have it but that evil voice in my head doesn’t scream for it every. single. day. 🙂

Love all your answers. You’ve got a great husband like I do. I had the same issues in my youth. My father made sure to tell me often how worthless I was. I got past that when I went out on my own. I became an overachiever at almost everything I did. I’m happy about that too. Dumped that awful baggage in short order.

I know you love where you live. I wasn’t surprised at your answer.

Love the video. Catchy little tune.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Love and hugs my friend. ♥

      Sandee,

I never understood how anyone and a parent much less can run a child down with such ugly things. What a shame! I’m happy you found what you need after leaving home and are now a happy, well-rounded person. Thanks for taking time out of your day to visit. 😉

Don’t you just love the cartoon jokes. I do. I love Pinterest for finding them too.

joined my first social media (Facebook) platform in 2004. It’s generally a big time drain, especially the games. I remember becoming addicted to Farmville. Who else remembers that? Anywho, a word of advice…don’t get started on them!

HAHA....I remember farmville very well. A friend of mine and me got so addicted we would plan to meed to dinner around when we had to harvest! CRAZY time spent on it. That and Yoville. I finally got off them and I think I left a harvest to dry up!!!

I wish I’d asked my grandparents questions about their early life, how they met, and a whole lot of other things. Now, I can’t. A mistake we all make time and time again. I need to get cracking asking some of these things of my parents before the days get away any more.

I too have that wish. Although I am thankful for listening to things even a a teen. Just picking up things here and there. I try to pass that on to my kids for them to pass to theirs but not sure if it will go anywhere past me. I recently lost my mom, she was the one that I went to and listened to about her past, life with her parents and life with my great granny. I am thankful I had her for as long as I did and thankful I grew up knowing both my granny and great granny.

There is no one I know of but a few friends that know me as well as I know myself and it took me so many years to find me, learn to love me and enjoy me! haha….its all true. Can’t seem to find that special someone for my life.

That is cool..I love that area up there. I love the Smokies and I love where my sis in laws family lived in the mts of Franklin NC. Its a beautiful area for sure. The place is there for family to visit….I need to make a trip there to spend sometime with just me and furs. Yes, I would take them with me. Course it would be leashes for them all cause they be BEAR up there….

    Nice reading about you.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Pamela,

I never want to be addicted to a game like I was with Farmville ever again. That’s just crazy! lol It’s good that you found the best of you the help of friends and on your own. Some people never do. That’s cool you have family who lives in Franklin. There’s a Mandie Book series that our oldest used to love written by a woman Louis Gladys Leppard who lived in Franklin. It seems I remember reading in recent years that she passed away. Anytime you get into the mountains you have to watch for bear but in the western NC hills you have to be concerned with elk. Those things critters are big! Have you seen any on your visits? Very cool sighting!

  • 15andmeowing

Those are great funnies, especially the cat one. Our Prancie knocks everything down like that.
Thank you for participating in the fill-ins- I missed you. My niece has been with her hubby since she was 15 and he was 16. They are now 30 and 31 and happily married for 6 years-I hope they stay happy like you and your hubby. Have a nice weekend! XO

  • Debbie D.

Hi Cathy; Thanks for the laughs this morning! 😀 I enjoyed your lovely photo as well and your fill in answers, too. Hubby and I have been together since 1971, so I know how wonderful a long-term relationship can be. Congratulations to you and you DH! 💖 It’s feeling distinctly fall-like here also and that’s earlier than usual! Not nice, especially since summer got a late start. 🙁 The upside to that – maybe we’ll get some decent fall colours this time. The last couple of years it’s been too warm. Have a good weekend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Chris,

I think I borrowed that funny from a friend’s FB wall who is a retired nurse. She was a cardiac surgeon nurse. I’m sure that’s not the right title but you get the idea. Anywho, I knew I had to share this with all of my peeps. Thanks for dropping in for a visit.

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Sillies & Starbucks is a great combo for a Friday morning and I’m enjoying myself. Off topic, I have a question for you. Given your fondness for pinup art, have you ever considered trying your hand at drawing pinup damsels, either those already published or some of your mind’s own creation? I think that would be fun for both you and me.

Our area is under a heat advisory and it feels like an oven when we go outdoors. The heat is absolutely stifling day and night and I feel sorry for the kids who need to sit all day inside those portable classrooms (we have many of them here in Florida) that might not be properly air conditioned.

Chatuge Lake in Georgia looks like a lovely spot. If we do get an early fall, I hope you and DH get out and about and take lots of colorful leaf pictures for CAAC. I see very few fall leaves down here. I wanna smooch that cuddly koala bear. I happen to like salads and don’t eat donuts and so, even if someone brought those sweet treats to the table, I would avoid them and keep on munching my greens. I can top the person who intends to swallow popcorn kernels before cremation. I’m going to swallow an entire fireworks display and go out with a bang. 🙂 The funniest Silly of all has to be that cat in the operating room. I can only imagine the mayhem.

I read your Friday Fill-ins with interest. I joined Facebook for a period of three months last year and found it was not the format for me. However I did get hooked on the mewsic game in which players must name a song title with the first letter matching the last letter of the previous song. It was fun but habit forming. I agree that it is an important opportunity missed when younger generations fail to ask questions and elicit info from older ones. The more I learn about you and DH the more I realize that yours is a classic love story. You can be very thankful to have found each other when countless other people are still searching for what you have.

I enjoyed Weird Al’s “Tacky” video, a parody of Pharrell Williams’ single “Happy.” It features cameo appearances by some of my favorite celebs: Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet (Cam from Modern Family), Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black.

To top if off, you posted that great GIF of the Brit birds dancing on a Bandstand in a Foreign Land – the music TV show Top Of The Pops. I love how those young women dressed and danced back then.

Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

It’s funny you should suggest that I draw pinup gals. Can you keep a secret? I’m thinking about using that idea for my art theme next April. I haven’t begun yet but I really need to if that’s the route I plan to pursue. I love drawing the female form, so I hope if I take this challenge on that I can do it justice. UGH, a heat advisory?! That sounds horrible! It’s going to be warm here for a few days yet. This morning, our lows dipped to about 60º and it felt wonderfully refreshing. It was a bit too cool for wearing shorts. In about a month I won’t be able to wear my summer clothing in the wee hours. I’ll have to have leggings or sweatpants on till the sun warms things. I’m very blessed that God placed DH in my life. He’s a very good man and is truly my best friend. It makes me sad knowing there are all too many men and women still searching for his/her soulmate. The key to any relationship is to grow together instead of apart. I hate seeing couples going in different directions with their interests. I know you can’t be together on everything but the problem I see seems to be that not many couples want to share the same hobbies and interests for whatever reason. Thanks for joining me today for my return back to Friday Sillies. Have a funtastic weekend and stay indoors where it’s cool, dear friend
