Thursday Art Date

A Winter Night

The art prompt this week at Rain’s Garden is “A Winter Night”.  I reworked an old illustration in Procreate.  After I uploaded it to my computer I used Pixelmator Pro to touch up some areas, brighten the snow piles, and increased the black point to intensify the night scene. This is what I came up with.

Afterwards, I used my image at Lunapic to create a snow falling animated file.

This week our weather has had a few not-so bad days but the forecast is calling for another dip tomorrow lasting through the weekend.  We might even see a snow flurry or two but I seriously doubt we’ll get any accumulation.  Regardless of what the weather is doing outside your window, I’m going to leave you with a beautiful playlist that will add some peaceful moments to your day as you poke around Blogosphere. Don’t forget to let me know you stopped by for a visit by leaving a comment.  This is CAAC signing off, up next is Saturday Songsuasion. Have a doodletastic day! X💋X💋, Cathy

What a lovely scene, Cathy, it’s really feeling the wintertime mood. I love the sweet snowman with his little smile. He looks happy being outside in the garden … the music seems perfect for this. Bravo 😍

Have a good week, stay healthy and well.

I love your snowy artwork…so pretty. You did a terrific job to create a magical winter scene with the music from Narnia. We have a balmy -15 as a high today and the weekend will be cold but I just love how the snow sounds underneath my feet.

      Birgit,

Is that -15º C or F? Either way, it’s cold, right? BRRR! We dipped into the teens last night. As I type my response this late in the morning, the temp outside is 23.5ºF. At least the sun is shining beautifully. The rays warmth will flood the living room as it spreads to other parts of our humble abode. The one thing I really love about this place is that we face the south sky giving us an abundance on those gorgeous sunny wintry days. I do hope we can find in our next place the same advantage as this. We got a few flurries last night but that’s it. The cold weather is bad enough. I’m ready for spring. 🙂

Wow Cathy! I am so impressed with this. You created a work of art with so much detail and life. Now, You are going to think I’m nuts, well I am, but they way you have snow flakes by the mail box is so realistic. I don’t know why my eye goes there but I love it. I really enjoy your art. Have a great day.

      Nicole,

I don’t think you’re nuts. Sometimes my eyes are drawn to particular segments of a person’s artwork or photographs. I guess it’s just the way our brains work and there’s nothing wrong with that. 🙂

What an incredible scene, Cathy. You do digital so very well. And you have such a great command of Procreate. I have PhotoShop and can’t do anything with it. I am in awe of your winter nighttime scene. Great touch with the snow falling.

      Elizabeth,

I couldn’t do near the job with Procreate without my Apple pencil. I marvel how some artists can use just their fingers to do the job but it feels a bit clumsy to me. I thank you for your sweet words. PhotoShop is a photo-editor I know but if you use the mobile app do you have the option to use a stylus for drawing or markup your photographs or to create from a blank page? Thanks for popping by!

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thankful Thursday Art Date with Rain, dear friend!

Thanks for patiently waiting for me to show up today. We made that midnight run to the airport last night to welcome Mrs. Shady’s son back from a trip to Arizona. There was construction work on the highway for at least half the trip out and back, reducing the number of lanes and jamming up traffic. There were so many cars on the road it looked like rush hour in the middle of the night.

I really like your drawing entitled “A Winter Night,” both with and without animation. I admire the stark contrast of darkness and bright white snow, the way the evergreens are drawn and positioned around the scene and the fence with an accumulation of snow. Looks like that snowman is making his way down to check the mailbox.

Yessum, another cold wave will sweep through our parts this weekend. A couple of days ago, the temp range was predicted to be 46 and 29 for Saturday. I just now checked and they have bumped the overnight low up two degrees to 31. Even so, it’s going to be cold for Florida. I hope you and DH can get through the remaining days and weeks of winter w/o any more nasty power outages.

I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and serenity evoked by the video showing snow falling in the woods accompanied by calming mewsic. To me, a blanket of pure white powered snow is therapeutic. The acoustic effect alone is a blessing because the white stuff absorbs most of the harsh sounds that surround us every day if we live anywhere near civilization. The beauty of a fresh snowfall is unparalleled. It is a gift and a blessing from above. As a boy I spent as many hours as possible outdoors playing in the snow. I played until well after dark and only returned to the house after the repeated nagging and scolding of my mother who insisted that I call it a night. Snow brought me joy.

Thank you again for understanding the reason for my tardiness today. If you aren’t running a Friday Fun Stuff this week, then I will see you Saturday for some Songsuasion. Have a wonderful TT and a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Cathy!
