Good Monday morning! This is a busy day for me at Curious as a Cathy. Earlier this morning, I hit the dance floor with the Monday’s Music Moves Me crew and if you’re looking to boogie with me, then click here, but don’t rush off before you get a chance to check out my newest Looney Tunes A-Z Art Sketch!
My next favorite Looney Tunes character probably is Daffy Duck.
Daffy was one of the first new “screwball” characters in the late 30s replacing everyman, humble and ordinary, characters. Daffy Duck first appeared in Porky’s Duck Hunt April 1937 who was barely an unnamed character in this short with a personality moviegoers were accustomed to. He was an assertive, unrestrained, combative star making him an explosive hit at the theaters. People left the movies talking about this daffy duck. I found an example of Daffy at work in the short, “Fool Coverage”.
When I was a kid, I remember this skits of Porky Pig and Daffy but I’m more familiar with his pairing with Bugs Bunny (1951-1964) as the insecure, jealous rival determined to steal back the spotlight and failing miserably at it as seen in the collection of YT cartoon clips from the 2003 movie Back in Action with Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, and Steve Martin.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day. I ask that leave a direct link for today’s post in comments to ensure others can find an easy way back to you. Also, over the last few months I’ve noticed many bloggers with use Gravatar do not have their active blog address linked to their profile. You may want to double check yours to make sure it’s listed. I’m heading over to the A2Z headquarters to see who’s joined the party now. I hope to see you again tomorrow for the next letter in the alphabet in my Looney Tunes Art Sketch series! X💋X💋 Cathy

Great Daffy Cathy!!! You really got his personality in that one! 🙂
Daffy is what I like to call a “cloud-coocoo-land character” (I didn’t make that up; I stole it, much like Daffy stole the limelight).
Excellent drawing of Daffy! He was another one of my faves! Have a great day! ❤️
Daffy is a favorite, you did an excellent job with him.
Great sketch Cathy! There’s a humor all over which is in keeping with the cartoon type of sketches. Cartoon characters reflect emotions of human behavior and you showed it very well.

Great job on Daffy. XO
Daffy Duck is a cartoon legend and your Daffy sketch is terrific! It’s duck season!
Every kid that grew up with Daffy still has a soft spot for him. This is a great sketch. Love the vids too. Have a great day.
I knew you’d have Daffy today, but I was still happy to see him freaking out over all us A to Z’ers as it should be! We are very scary people after all.=D
Love your Daffy! He was always second duck to Bugs but I love the guy even when he played with Porky and in so many others. I love the one where he finds the treasure but really angers the Genie. The clips you showed were fun and it is putting me in the mood to see these cartoons again.
Daffy will always be one of my favourites.
“Run for your life, the A 2 Zers are on the loose…” that made me laugh. Daffy is one of my favorites, and your drawing of him is wonderful!
I didn’t always like what Daffy did but I love the way he talks. “Thufferin Thuckatash”

Your A to Z is fun fun fun!!!! How do I get a gravatar on my blog? Thanks for your help!!!
Another fun sketch/post. This is a great theme idea. Love the video 🙂 https://mollyscanopy.com/2021/04/dion-the-dave-clark-five-and-dancing-to-dick-clark/
Daffy’s quite a character, isn’t he? I love the cartoon where the artist is shown changing Daffy’s location and, as needed, his costume. I also like the way he goes bouncing around going “WHOO HOO! WHOO HOO! WHOO HOO!” This is a really good drawing of him!
Don’t know why Daffy is running from A2Zers. He fits right in with his alliterative name.

How fun. I love those cartoons and I love your sketches. You’re going to have fun this month and so are we.
Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Big hug. ♥
Very nice. Love Marvin the Martian here.
I had thought you would draw Daffy. I don’t like him much but he’s good to have around for Bugs to bug him. I don’t really like the ethereal effect on the drawing but it kind add something to it.
Have a lovely day.
Wonderful sketch!
I’m a big fan of Daffy as well – his frustration with bugs bunny’s celebrity always used to make me laugh – thanks for brightening my day.
Daffy Duck! Made my morning.
Great sketch of Daffy, I have a meme similar to that I use each Friday in a chat that I’m in….It’s TGIF we made it to the weekend. Gotta love Daffy. Your blog is really awesome. I’m glad I found it. Hope you have a great week and I think I’ve picked up a few lessons from your post. I might have to incorporate into my own starting tomorrow.
I’m off to Doing Chores now.
Cheers,

We A to Zers are enough to scare anyone!
Perhaps we need some discipline… https://suestrifles.wordpress.com/2021/04/05/discipline-atozchallenge/
Gotta run, getting ready to work, but I’ll be back to both posts later, as I want to enjoy those . Daffy Duck and A to Z! Nice drawing. I wonder if the Twitter method of signing into your comment section (which has said “expired link” for several weeks now) really is expired, or if it’s just me. I know nothing about WordPress. I’ve been signing in with Facebook but maybe leaving direct links is a good idea when I visit A to Z posts in general. Oh well gotta go but I’ll be back! https://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com/2021/04/downtown-and-d-songs-musicmovesme.html
Alana,
Are you saying my Twitter account says expired? I deleted my Twitter account when they decided to suppress conservatives rights on their platform, as well I did away with some others. Regarding my commenting system, you can elect to not use one of the sign-in options which means you more than likely would need to sign out and then enter the info when prompted below the comment form. That’s one way to get your main or direct link noticed or simply adding it right in comments like you did definitely works! No worry, darlin’! Visit at your convenience. CAAC is open 24/7!! 😉 Thanks for dropping by, dearie!!
Hi, Cathy!
Happy D-Day Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.
Yessum, as a pioneering screwball character of the animation world, Daffy Duck made a splash. He became one of the best known and most fun to watch Looney Tunes characters. I enjoyed that cartoon short in which Daffy tricks Porky into signing an insurance policy loaded with outrageous fine print, and yet every single bizarre mishap outlined in the policy actually happens, requiring Daffy to pay-up. As we see in the second clip, even the crafty Daffy is outsmarted by Bugs Bunny. I never saw that 2003 movie Looney Tunes: Back in Action, but it looks funny. I notice that it boasts an all star cast. In that WB board room scene, I immediately recognized Jenna Elfman who at the time the movie was made was riding high in the role of Dharma on her hit TV sitcom Dharma & Greg, a series Mrs. Shady and I watched every week.
I admire your Daffy drawing. With arms raised above his head and sweat flying, Daffy certainly looks like he’s running for his life.
Have a wonderful A to Z week, dear friend Cathy!
