Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) #RMF

This is the second annual Roctober Mewsic Festival hosted by Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle and I’m happy to join along with her in the fun.

I always considered myself a soft rock to middle of the road rock gal but in the last 10 years, I realized that my rock n’ roll roots lean a little heavier and harder than I first thought.  This month, I’m revisiting some of the classic 70s bands that I loved as a preteen/teenager and you’re welcome to come along for the ride.

Today, we’re listening to five of my top favorites from 1970 by Creedence Clearwater Revival!

Interestingly, I thought CCR was a band throughout the 70s but the group broke up in October 1972.  I guess the popularity of their early work influenced the airwave for years following the breakup and occasionally on oldies stations today, our ear might catch one of these classic hits.

Later in the morning, watch for a second post, Thursday Art Date with Rain to go live.  I’m sleeping in a wee bit this morning because I know I need to after having my colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures yesterday. Of course, I hope you’ll remember to join me tomorrow for more classic rock tunes with #RMF!

  1. Huge CCR fan, here! Lots of great memories. 😀 Thanks, Cathy. They did an excellent rendition of “I Put A Spell On You”, as well.

    1. Debbie,

I remember CCR’s ‘I Put A Spell On You’ and you’re right it’s very good. Of course, I love just about everything they did!

  2. My hubby loves CCR! I have been with him to see John Fogerty in concert 3 times. XO

  3. CCR reminds me so much of my oldest brother (my favorite!) Their music makes me so very nostalgic. I’m showcasing them next week, I believe 🙂 Great share!

  4. I had not heard Creedence’s rendition of Heard it Through the Grapevine before and I like it. Thanks for sharing the set!

    1. Janet,

Really, you hadn’t heard CCR’s ‘Heard It Through the Grapevine’ before? WOW, that’s amazing! I really love their version. I’m glad that I was able to share something new with you.

  5. Creedence’s version of “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” is probably my favorite. The whole “Cosmo’s Factory” album is great. Nice set!

  6. One of my favorites back in the day. There was some great music in the 60s and 70s.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Big hug. ♥

  7. Hi, Cathy!

This is a travel day for us. We are finally returning home after 17 days on the road and lots of hard work each day. We will only be home ten days before returning for more of the same here at this location across the state. Bear with me. I might miss some of your posts.

The music of Creedence formed the soundtrack of my college years. The first song you posted, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” my favorite by CCR, brings back a specific happy memory from that time period. The song was at its peak of popularity when my cousin and I rented an off-campus apartment with two other guys. It was nearly a mile trek to the edge of campus, but I enjoyed the walk. Every day on the way to and from classes I passed a house with a fence around the yard. The family had a Siberian Husky and I befriended the dog. I stopped to pet and talk to him twice a day for three years. He was my buddy and I still think about him to this day and whenever I do my mind starts playing “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.” My other favorites in your set are “Run Through The Jungle” and “Grapevine.”

We have several chores to do before leaving for home today and I might be en route when your second post of the day goes live. I might need to wait until I get home to view your artwork. Have a safe and happy day, dear friend Cathy!
