Monday's Music Moves Me

5 Love song titles that make me think of DH

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays!

This month’s honorary co-hostess is, Robin.  Hearts and roses are synonymous with February.  Robin picked a great theme for this week, Love songs.  I really love ‘Love’ songs!  There are too many catalogued in my memory to share in one post, so I used 100 Best Love Songs for inspiration, pulling 5 song titles that instantly make me think of DH (Darling Husband).  Hit play to enjoy!

Song tracks: 1. I Hear A Symphony ~The Supremes 2. [They Long To Be] Close To You ~The Carpenters 3. Take My Breath Away ~Berlin 4. Best Of My Love ~Emotions 5. Forever Your Girl ~Paula Abdul

The Carpenters 1970 #2 hit song, “Close To You” is a personal favorite and one that I frequently sang to DH during our courting days.  Even now, I often hum the tune.  It makes me feel good.  If you had to pick one love song from the early years when you dated your significant other, what would it be and why? I’m ready to read your story!

4M regular co-hostesses: Marie, Stacy, Alana, and Me

THE PARTY BEGINS HERE!

This is a music linky party. Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

4M design by Cathy Kennedy

I had hoped to have new news on Marie to share but I haven’t heard from her since she left a comment last week which is a bit worrisome.  I trust God in her healing and I know when she’s able, then we’ll connect.  Marie, darlin’ if you reading this, we all hope you’re doing better.  Our love and prayers are with you. 😘

This is CAAC signing off, please join me next time for A View To A Kill BOTB showdown results post on Tuesday. Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

We couldn’t see your playlist, but we’re hopping over to YouTube to hear your romantic love songs, CK, and we all liked them, especially The Three Degrees. I think Granny has a memory to all their songs and her puppy loves…MOL…and she all remembers them, her head is filled with memories of lovers that come and go, before she met Grandpaw. Their song is Love and Happiness😻To much to tell, but the songs say it all😸Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞

      Natasha,

I’d say the reason you couldn’t access my YT playlist is because of country restrictions. It would be so nice if there was an easy way to tell while on YouTube if the videos are open for viewing across the globe. I think there is a website where you can check this by adding the video url but I never can remember that and then I’m always in too much of hurry. Perhaps I need to slow down. 🙂 I apologize, I didn’t do a Wild Wednesday post this week. You’re welcome to join the 4M linky, if you want. 🙂

Hmm…I did write here and said I loved all the songs even Paula Abdul was good. My hubby loved “At Last” by Etta James and took me in his arms and we danced.

Hi Cathy, what a cute picture! 🙂 And a lovely, romantic playlist. Hubby and I started dating in 1971 and there are a bunch of songs that trigger memories, like Baby I’m-A Want You, and Mammy Blue. We used the instrumental version of Je T’Aime for the first dance at our wedding reception in 1973. The quote about true love is absolutely true, too. Have a great week!

    Simply awesome Aww Monday image!

I met my wife in 1973 and we married in 1974. We would have gotten married earlier but for the sake of peace in the family (she was 19 and I was 26) we waited a year before saying our vows. I don’t know if we ever had a song that was truly ours but whenever I thought of her I always thought how lucky I was that she was “My Girl”. Nearly 48 years later I’m still the lucky one and she is still my girl.

Very nice choices. It is nice to see you and your hubby so in love after so long, so sweet. XO

This is a wonderful set. “I Hear a Symphony” is one of my favorite Supremes song – actually, I have so many favorite Supreme songs. The Carpenters – what can you say? What a talent Karen Carpenter was . My spouse isn’t a big “that is our song” type of person (he’s more a “show love by deeds” than a “show love by flowers and poetry” kind of guy.) But there is a song with a lyric my spouse misheard and that misheard lyric has become one of the expressions we share. And no, I’m not saying which song it is! I thought of using that song in my post tomorrow, but then thought maybe not. The thought did make me smile, though! I’m thinking of Marie, also.

Awww on those precious cutie pies. So adorable. Cuddling is a wonderful thing.

Love your love songs. There are so many wonderful love songs. I know you and your hubby are very much the lovebirds. I get that.

I’m worried about Marie too. I’m praying as hard as you are that she’ll return to blogging. I did set up a post for here and all she needs to do is add her music.

Thank you for co-hosting the MMMM. Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop, too.

Have a fabulous day and week filled with love and beautiful music. Love and hugs. ♥

These are all beautiful love songs, Cathy! You and DH are lucky to have found each other. The cuddling squirrels are adorable. 💖

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Pawww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend.

Awww, I just wanna smooch those little snoozing squirrels, but they’d probably wake up and bite me on the lip.

Yessum, the February love theme is ideally suited for the storybook romance you and DH have maintained all these years. I will express this for the hundredth time – how lucky you both are to be so right for each other and know it and feel it every day. “You’ve given me a true love and ev’ry day I thank you love,” as Holland, Dozier and Holland wrote and The Supremes sang. The Carpenters also recorded a love song that is ageless and timeless. No wonder it landed on the list you found of the 100 Greatest Love Songs. “Take My Breath Away” is a song and video that was played often on the MTV station where I worked. As the cutaway scenes indicate, the song was written for the 1986 movie Top Gun starring one of the hottest stars in Hollywood, Tom Cruise, along with an “it girl” of the 80s, Kelly McGillis, (who turns age 65 this year), and Anthony Edwards, who became the star of the TV medical drama ER eight years later. Whenever I hear “Best Of My Love” by The Emotions, it reminds me of my vacation with Mrs. Shady #1 in Myrtle Beach, SC, in September, 1977. Released in June of that year, the single was on its way to the top of the chart during the two weeks we stayed at the seashore resort city. The Emotions song played frequently on our car radio, on radios sunbathers brought to the beach and in restaurants and clubs. “Forever Your Girl” reminds us how big a recording star and entertainer Paula Abdul was at the time. I know that DH’s heart plays a symphony whenever you’re near and whisper those words to him. It is touching to know that you also sang to him The Carpenters song “Close To You” during courtship.

If you are asking me to pick one love song from “the early years” when I dated my significant other, I would need to hark back to the late 1960s when I was dating the future Mrs. Shady #1. “Our song” was appropriately titled “I Love You” and was the only hit for the psychedelic rock band called People! The song was written and originally recorded in 1965 by The Zombies, then covered by People! in 1968, a top 15 hit for the group in the spring and summer of that year. The record reached its peak in June, only a few weeks after my girlfriend and I met. We adopted “I love You” as our song and I bought a copy of the record which we “autographed” – writing the words “Tom & Karen forever” on the label. Unfortunately, our love and our marriage did not last forever as have yours and DH’s. I’ll say it again, Cathy. You have been and still are very lucky in love.

Yessum, love and prayers go out to friend Marie. I hope you hear from her soon. I am eager to learn the result of your latest BOTB Bond beatdown. Enjoy your Sunday and I will see you on TMT Tuesday. Please check your email inbox for the message I promised to write today. Thanks for posting this inspiring set of classic loves songs and have a great day and week, dear friend Cathy!

I don’t recall music being a significant part of the early dating days of my wife and I. Probably the main reason was our cultural difference since she came from Ecuador. She wasn’t and still isn’t a fan of most of the music I listen to. We both liked the musical Evita which came out about that time. I bought her the soundtrack and we listened to it a lot. That’s about it other than a lot of Christian music which we both liked as well.
