I Heard It On The Radio

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to the Sunday edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me.  Patrick came up with an excellent theme for this week.  He wants us to build a playlist of songs we heard on the radio for National Radio Day.  In my early teen years during the summer I listened to a lot of radio if I were in a place where I could get a good signal.  Ear buds had not yet been invented.  We wore large over the ear headphones if we wanted to keep the music to ourselves. I didn’t have headphones.  The closest I came a pillow speaker.  For those who don’t know what that it is, it’s basically a single speaker you lay under your pillow, disc shape about 5-6 inches in diameter with a headphone jack to connect to your stereo.  I used it when I went to bed.  I loved to drift off to dreamland with pre-recorded tunes playing in the background.

I apologize, sometimes these weekly prompts causes me to reflect on memories and I’m sidelined temporarily.  Anyway, the summer of 1976 I spent with my uncle, Randy, and his wife, Relaine.  At the time, they lived in Columbus Ohio.  Relaine had family in the area.  Her sister had a big above ground pool and I went frequently splash around or laze on a float listening to the pop radio station for hours!  I had no trouble putting together a fun list of a dozen songs.  I could’ve added more but I figured 12 was enough to ask of you to listen to and if you don’t have time to hear them now then come back when you do.  I love long having a long playlist going in the background while I do other things in Blogosphere and around the house.

National Radio Day playlist:

  1. Silly Love Songs ~Paul McCartney & Wings
  2. Short People ~Randy Newman
  3. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart ~Elton John & Kiki Dee
  4. A Fifth of Beethoven ~Walter Murphy
  5. Fly Robin Fly ~Silver Convention
  6. Sara Smile ~Hall and Oates
  7. Love Rollercoaster ~Ohio Player
  8. [Shake, Shake, Shake] Shake Your Booty ~KC & the Sunshine Band
  9. Dream Weaver ~Gary Wright
  10. Shannon ~Henry Gross
  11. Shop Around ~Captain & Tennille

I may have to revisit this theme another week because the music from the 70s totally rocked!

The theme this week is to build a playlist of songs you heard on the radio for National Radio Day.

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
