Good morning, kittens and dawgs! Before I launched into my mewsic choices today, I want to share next month’s A-Z theme – Art Sketching through the Alphabet .
After I started college and then moved from career life to motherhood my artist ability (what little I had) sorta vanished. I did some doodling while the kids were small but my mind was not devoted to it and I couldn’t nurture these interests. So, it fell by the wayside until last year and that’s when I had an awakening to rekindle the glimmer buried within and it stunned me to see there is still hope! I am challenging myself to sketch anything that captures my eye using the daily alphabet prompt. I’m not sure how well this will translate but perhaps if nothing else it will encourage others to massage a dormant talent to life. I hope you’ll decide to join me each day as I share a bit of me with you A-Z!
I have scheduled posts set for the rest of the week for your enjoyment and my convenience but something came up last Tuesday that shocked my world. I can’t talk about it because I don’t like airing publically things that are sensitive and I find myself struggling to stay on top of this storm-tossed sea but all I can do is ask for your prays for DS.
I’ll do my best to make my rounds and I hope to see you back for Tuesday Tunesation!!
What exciting stuff do you have planned? I made some heart-shaped chocolate petit fours for DH and if you dropped by last week then you saw the special V-Day card I made for him, as well as our kiddos. I didn’t forget you. I doodled this ribbon heart design with friends in a rainbow of colors (actually it is the colors of a rainbow) especially for all of you to show how special you are to me.
Today, I thought it would be fun to revisit two older posts I wrote in my early years of blogging. Valentine’s Day is the “love holiday”, but you know what to truly love someone else, you must love yourself first. I encourage you to read 7 Ways to Love Yourself. Valentine’s Day celebrates a couple’s intimacy but shouldn’t we celebrate this all year? Check out 12 Way to Celebrate Your Love!
Les from Ink Interrupted hosts the weekly meme, Tuesday Coffee Chat and her coffee chat topic this morning is on cue for this special occasion. The prompt is LOVE. What or Who are you lovin’ lately?
It’s hard to imagine loving DH any more than I do but I find that I grow more and more in love with him each day of every year. I’m not sure how that’s possible and yet it is. We are more than husband and wife, we are best friends! There is nothing he or I would rather do than to do it with each other. I help him change the oil in the car and he helps me fold the laundry, We like getting up early to take long day trips to the mountains, photograph scenic views or beautiful sunsets, I fix his boo-boos and he fixes mine, we are junkaholics who love ice cream, chocolate, and donuts, we like to cuddle in the living room watching romantic comedies, action flicks, or edge of your seat thrillers, he shares interesting articles, headlines, and how-tos while I enlighten him with my photo-art, doodles, blogging interests, or delicious recipes.
We’re different in many ways and so alike in others. He’s quick-witted – I’m slow on the take. He’s intelligent – I’m trying to catch up. He’s logical – I’m emotional (that’s not always a bad thing). He’s reserved – I’m an open book. He loves cookies – I love to bake cookies. He’s coördinated – I’m a klutz. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a purrtty amazing person *giggle* but it’s not my place to speak of these things. Instead, I’ll leave that to DH who’s always quick to share with others my favorable attributes. He’s just sweet like that. 😉
Within our core, we share identical viewpoints – politically, spiritually, and ethically. He gives freely and cares deeply, placing me above himself all the time. It an honor to call myself his wife. The old saying Love is blind is true because love hides the small stuff not worthy of attention that otherwise could rear its head to cause problems and that’s the way love should work. We all have impurrfections and it’s nice when love is bigger than our flaws. Thank you, DH, for being my Valentine and the greatest LOVE of my life! 😘
That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m hopping over to Stacy’s for Random Tuesday Thoughts and you’re welcome to join me if you want. I hope you’ll hop & link up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.
Raspberry Pie Filling (Strawberry sounds goods, too)
Pre-heat the oven according to the directions on the dough. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
Choose your favorite pie filling. For this recipe, I used Duncan Hines Premium Raspberry Pie Filling. An optional step I did was add ¼ cup of Splenda to the filling and stirred well. DH likes it to be a little sweeter.
Roll the dough out. Using an Anne Clark 3 ⅝ heart-shaped cookie cutter (made in the USA), I cut out the heart shapes placing on the cookie sheet. Place about a tablespoon of filling in the center of each mini heart-shaped piecrust, then brush egg white along the edges (this acts like a glue for the two piecrust pieces) and then top with another mini heart-shaped piecrust.
Use a fork to press two piecrust pieces together, if filling squeezes out use other end of fork to scrap up and put back in bowl. I found using the other end of the fork to seal the difficult areas down useful then I crinkled with fork tines to make it look pretty.
The last step brush tops of mini heart-shaped pies with egg white and sprinkle with sugar, then place in the oven and bake about 5 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and enjoy!
Did you catch my earlier post, Barry White on Tuesday Tunesation? If not, I invite you to check it out! 😉 I hope you’ll join me at midnight and link up with my mid-week photo meme not-so Wordless Wednesday.
Thank you for including me in your Monday, kittens & dawgs! 😉 My friend, XmasDolly who puts on the Monday’s Music Moves Me 🎶 linky party is a bit short-handed and I volunteered to co-host as long for as long as she needs me. You’re invited to hit the dance floor.
My mewsic pleasure is all over the place sometimes. This morning I felt a bit mellow and felt the beautiful native American flute mewsic fit what I needed which led me down the path to finding suitable tunes to relax the soul.
Enjoy this 26-song playlist while writing, drawing, reading, napping, relaxing, cleaning, or visiting other blogs.
One more thing, if you’re the creative type and looking for more memes to connect with then Impulsive Artistry hosts the Monday meme Feeling Inspired? where you can share your photography, crafts, mewsic, and more posts. What mewsic are you listening to lately? 😉
In my Sunny with a touch of Soul #BoTB showdown between Stevie Wonder and the James Brown and Mara Whitney duet, there was no contest. So, there’s no wonder that the winner is Stevie Wonder (15 to 1) which includes my vote for Mr. Wonder. Thanks Debbie for making sure my battle wasn’t a shutout! 🙂
This is Curious as a Cathy signing off with a touch of soothing Wonder for your soul.
I hope to see y’all back for not-so Wordless Wednesday!
Hello, fellow BOTBers and fans (those of you who aren’t actively participating, but who vote and love music)! I struggled this round to visit everyone in time to select my favorite artist. I promise to do better next time!
If you found yourself mixed up with life and didn’t get a chance to stop by, then you can recap September 15th BOTB here. However for those who managed to hop over, listen to, and had your say-so then you know it was a tight count.
The tally stands:
The Piano Guys 11
Whoo-hoo, this is the closest battle to-date for me! So, a big ole congratulations to the awesome goodness of this rounds’ pick ~ The Piano Guys! BTW, they were my choice, too. 😉
Thanks to everyone for making this battle showdown fun, but before you scat I invite you to check out more fine #BOTB results below:
Far Away Series is the brain child behind today’s little meme I happily am apart of and with a little help from STMcCP (details on site) together they put together a bi-monthly hop that we know as the…..
The change in seasons will soon be upon us. With the change from summer to fall, one song comes to mind above all others… Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
I developed an appreciation for classical music when I was pregnant eons ago, but my heart really belongs to rock n’ roll. So, that being said, let’s have a little fun.
Classical music is beautifully relaxing, but I wanted a contemporary sound for this showdown, so I found two known artists to do just that!
The first contenders started in a piano shop in southern Utah to market pianos in an unconventional way. Do you care to guess the name of the shop? Why, its called The Piano Guys.
The Piano Guys music videos are incredibly captivating, so if you’re a person who’s easily swayed by what you see and not what you hear, then I first invite you to listen with your eyes closed. This will put things on even ground with their competitor. Listen to their meshed classical version mixed with the Bourne movie theme music.
The next contender video isn’t dramatic like the first. This is why I ask that you shut your eyes, but without the theatrics of The Piano Guys, this artist has set the standards in the classics and crossover scene, since 2007. Let’s give it for David Garrett!
Both bands totally blow my mind! I’m not sure how I’m going to go on this one. Who gets your vote? Name your band of choice in comments and tell us why you like your choice the best in comments. There is no wrong way to vote, except a no vote. Did you pick The Piano Guys or David Garrett? The decision is all yours!
Alrighty, the fun isn’t over. I invite you to check out more amazing battles taking place right now!
Thanks for joining in on the fun. I’ll have the results next week this time, so mark your calendar and stop by to see if your pick gets named. This is Curious as a Cathy signing off and saying have a bandtastic day!
