Horse in the Cove & Smoky Mountain Memories

Nikon D7000 August 2012 photographed HORSES IN THE COVE

I found a freebie photo editing program called FotoFlexer.com, which is really cool to use. On the above picture, I used the photo effect Full Grain. Normally, I do not like seeing a grainy photograph, but this really added some drama to an ordinary scene. In my opinion, and that’s precisely what it needed.

Do you like the sound of mountain folk music? I figure you either love it, hate it, or somewhere in-between. Growing up, I despised the sound of anything resembling bluegrass. All I can say is that was then and this is now.

Perhaps the reason for the change of heart correlates with my now deeper appreciation for my native Appalachian roots and Irish heritage. These sounds are tightly woven into the music of this mountain music and kindled my sentimental-ness toward banjo picking accompanied with the strumming guitars and mandolins which resonants happiness to my ears.

Today, I want to share with you another song that holds Smoky Mountain Memories….

  1. Great photo! I love the mountains in the distance, they look appropriately foggy.

I’m very found of Celtic influenced folk music, but I never acquired the taste for bluegrass. My Guy however does really like it.

  2. This pic could be the Snowy Mountains of Australia [ever see” The Man From Snowy River? “, based on the poem by Panjo Patterson] or the San Juan mountains of CO. Both are “horse country”!
PS. If you ever decide to make a quilt let me know! I can help…………
Thanks for visiting, I am a prolific quilter so there is always something new to see.

  3. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love hearing about new photo editing programs. I’ll have to check it out.

  6. I like the photo. I’m not much on bluegrass music- mostly because it reminds me of someone who brings back bad memories. I do like country. Yee-haw!
