#AprilA2Z Art Sketching through the Alphabet “P”

Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, thanks for sticking with me this month for the A2Z Art Sketching Through the Alphabet and today’s prompt is the letter “P”.  DH is my prince charming and he calls me his little princess. That may sound a bit sappy to some but I think it’s sweet the way we feel about each other.  Here are the princess and prince at the ball.

In the coming weeks, I will devote more time to drawing body figures and facial expressions to purrfect my weaknesses.

Hopefully, what I share with you every day will encourage you to do something that interests you that you’ve long put off because like me you just don’t think you can. My advice is, just do it! Maybe, you’ll be surprised. I know I was! 🙂

I’m heading off to link up with other fellow AtoZers and you’re invited to come along.  I’ll see you on tomorrow for the next installment of Art Sketching through the Alphabet!

  1. Love the prince and princess! I call my hubby my knight in shining armor as well and we had a caricature made of us on our 30th wedding anniversary and it is us as knight and princess. Great sketches in this challenge.

    1. I actually refer to DH as my “Knight in Shining Armor”, too. In fact a few years ago I wrote a post with the same title and you can read it here if you want. Oh, what a cool idea for your 30th anniversary!

    1. Patrick, I somehow missed a few people but I’m playing catch up and am grateful for your kinds words and visit, my friend! 🙂

  2. That was such a cute story and great sketch! Thanks for linking on Amanda’s Books and More.

  3. If people think it’s silly or make fun of it in a bad way (I’m thinking of your children or close friends having fun) the. They are jealous because very few have such a great relationship. You show the demureness of the princess and the strength of the prince. Great work and love the fireplace in the background which gives some realism to the scene

    1. Birgit, I don’t care what others think about me. I say, “To each his/her own”! We all can’t be the same. That’s what makes life interesting. After I penciled out my princess and prince then inspiration came for the background fill. It’s sorta funny how that’s happened nearly after I draw my main subject. 🙂 Thanks for visiting, dearie!

    1. MoonDustWriter, It is a good feeling to be held in a special place in DH’s heart and eye as his “little princess”. I wish more couples shared what we share. 🙂 Thanks for visiting.

    1. Andy, I like placing pleasant, sweet expressions on my women. There are so many angry people in the world that it’s nice to see my ladies happy. I suppose it’s my inner sunny-self shining through my drawings 🙂

    1. Ellen, I like dainty princesses, too. She seems frail and demure but her strength lies inward like a good heiress to the throne. 😉

    1. Thank you, Claire! Honestly, I didn’t know how well I would do with drawing after eons of not doodling anything but even when I was drawing I lacked the confidence needed. I think that’s what you’re seeing, my confidence in my art sketches. 🙂

  4. More perfectly delightful sketches. even though I am far too much of a tomboy to count myself a princess, I did marry a prince. It is a pleasure everytime I read or hear of other marriages that make it work. Thank you for sharing your sketches and pieces of you.

    1. Lori, Ah, you’re so sweet! It makes my heart happy to hear that you regard your husband as a prince, too. Thank you for stopping by!

    1. Debbie, sometimes I feel like I’m living in a fairy tale because DH is just too good to be true. Sometimes, I’ll say to him, “I don’t know what I did to deserve you.” He always replies, “I don’t want to hear any complaining.” lol He’s just too funny.

    1. Crystal, I’m sorry I some how overlooked your comment, as I did a few others on this day. I reckon I was having a hairy day or something with the A2Z buzz of activity but I’m trying my best to give everyone the attention they deserve in my catch up mode. 🙂

    1. Amy, I’m sorry for not responding to this comment before now but I get a bit confused when I get a lot at one time. Anywho, DH is just precious and wonderful. I’m so blessed to have such a sweet husband who feels this way about me and I couldn’t have hand picked a better husband if I tried. God gave me precisely what I needed in him. 🙂

  5. Oh Cathy, I love it! Great job on the “P”! Your sketch is really, really good. Thanks for sharing and always such sweet comments when you visit my blog. I have found the last couple of months that a lot of people love PURPLE! It has always been my fav color and being my birth stone is an added plus.

    1. Pam, You’re kind. Thanks! I have much to learn before I will feel totally comfortable sketching without any visuals or maybe I’ll always need it. lol You’re quite talented and I enjoy your beautiful paintings!

  6. Good morning, Cathy!

I am Pleased as Punch to be here for P-Day, dear friend, and gaze at your Prince and Princess sketch. I like how you started in tight this time and “zoomed out” in the second image to show us more of their surroundings. Once again I studied the facial expressions of the two subjects. The prince is handsome and has an air of dignity and nobility. You can tell he has experience with the ladies and knows how to treat them. He is proud to have this lady by his side. The princess is a classic beauty, old school feminine, naturally reticent and demure. The prince and princess make a fine couple and you made a fine drawing, Cathy!

You and DH are very lucky to have a warm, romantic relationship and to have terms of endearment for each other. There’s nothing sappy about it. You have discovered the recipe for a long, happy marriage.

Have a Purrfect Wednesday, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Your visits make my day peachy king! It’s a joy to hear that others who appreciate or have a similar relationship as DH & I. We count ourselves very blessed every day. I wanted to sketch a Disney Prince & Princess but ran short on time but I can always do that another time. Thank you for your on-going show of encouragement each day. You’ll never know how much this means to me, my friend. I’ll see you soon!

  7. I love your sketches Cathy I would call these elegant, your so talented I am useless at drawing.

Have a artistictastic week Cathy 🙂

    1. Thanks, Deb! I’m delighted to be drawing again after a long hiatus! I feel like I’ve woke from a deep sleep and seeing things new and different for the first time. Thanks for visiting!

  8. Cathy, your sketches are simply awesome. I wish I could draw figures like you. My 9.5 yr daughter is very good at sketching.

    1. Encourage your kiddo to draw! Our youngest daughter loved drawing and I thought for sure she’d take art in college but didn’t. These days, she doesn’t do too much sketching now that she’s discovered living on her own and working doesn’t allow much time for hobbies. Thanks for stopping by!
