Xena Warrior Princess

There are only two more days left of the A to Z Challenge.  I used my Xena pencil sketch for today’s Procreate recreation.  I’m not 100% satisfied with the way it turned out.  If I had more time to give then I know I would be happier but at least I can go back another time to correct things about the illustration that bugs me.  Despite its imperfections, I’m enjoying the learning curve and new how-to discoveries for future art sketches.

For new comers, the A2Z headquarters has an extensive list of all participants and quest posts each day.  Thanks for allowing me a moment of your day.  In my song quest, I discovered Lucy Lawless the actress who played Xena on the TV series sings. The song that led me to YouTube is one from the animated Hercules and Zena movie per the description by the video uploader in which Lucy’s character is singing about warriors.    This is CAAC signing off, I’ll be back tomorrow with the next letter in the alphabet!

  1. You see more flaws than we do, my friend, i enjoy your sketches immensely.

Real life is always more important than what’s up online, so please never apologize if you don’t get to visit me often or comment.

  2. Oh wow…do you know we match today! I talk about Xena on my blog. The sketch is great but her skirt needs to be longer because it looks like one can see The you know what:). I really like the coloured sketch which shows Xena’s softer side while ready to fight. I had no idea she could sing. It was really nice to learn and hear this.

  3. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thursday and “X” day, dear friend!

Yessum, I remember your 2017 post in which you unveiled a sketch of Xena: Warrior Princess. Brought back today In Living Color, Xena has changed in several ways. Rather than looking directly at us, she is now looking off to the side. Her hair is longer. Her armored glove has been removed and she is now wielding a sword. It was in a sheath on her back in the original drawing. Whereas Xena was merely posing in the black & white sketch, she now appears to be in attack mode. I think the mostly monochrome color scheme was a wise decision on your part. It’s a wonderful illustration, Cathy!

Golly, I never knew that actress Lucy Lawless is also a fine vocalist. She’s released CD’s of her singing and DVDs of her concerts. I very much enjoyed her empowering song about warriors to end the post.

Thank you for the morning art and mewsic, dear friend Cathy. Have a wonderful day and I’ll be back to see you tamale on Y-Day Friday!
