I interrupt the regular program to bring you this special announcement…. I preëmpt all routine posts to bring you my contributions to this month’s largest blogging event. Don’t worry, normal posting will resume next month like clock work (I hope). Meanwhile, I invite you to stick around to enjoy the #AprilA2Z with X marks the spot in #music!
There are few songs and fewer still artists that begin with the letter “X”. I could have bombarded you with some of my favorite Xmas songs, but then you just hate me for that. So, instead I’m featuring two new-to-me X-bands that I found this morning.
The first group perked my interest with their 70s band sound, if you like that sort of music then give a listen to the rock band, Xguru!
The next x act to follow is a female R&B quartet from the Atlanta, Georgia area that had 6 Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 list during the ’90s. Let’s give it up for, Xscape!
Songs that start with “X” aren’t many, either. I did stumbled upon a few familiar artists, but only one song I liked enough to share. I give you Debbie Harry performing the 1976 song cut, X Offender!
What “X” song title or groups can you share with us today?

Ha, xguru does sound like the 70s. Xscape reminds of gal groups from the late 70s/early 80s, too. Interesting how style come back. Must be the grandparents’ influence. lol
The View from the Top of the Ladder
Although this group’s name doesn’t begin with “X”, it does in a way:
“Add N to (X).”
In mathematical notation, that is (X)+N.
I heard this group on my college radio station, with their song “Brothel Charge.”
I haven’t heard of this group, but I will check them out, Noah! Thanks for the suggestion. I love learning about new artists and songs!
It was XTC for me, in 1979. Here they are ‘Making Plans for Nigel’. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gXNhL4J_S00
I had not heard of XTC until I began researching “X” bands. Thanks for the link, I checked out their song, but it just doesn’t ring a bell with me. Another blogger pal used XTC for this prompt and her song choice was new-to-me, as well. I will definitely listen to more of their tunes. I think they have a good sound about them!
I think they’re very much a product of their time. But hey, late 70s and early 80s were my formative years so I like them!
Oh “Making Plans for Nigel” is a great song 🙂
It still makes me smile, all these years later!
Who doesn;t like Blondie? I know I ddo!
