#WW Fairy Houses

Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, I’m keeping things fairly short today but if you’re interested in seeing my watercolor Iris Mother’s Day card I did for my mother then check out Cathy Chats segment from yesterday. 😉

I created this fantasy photo-art after snapping a short of twin mushrooms growing in our yard. Using Obsidian brushes I added the pixie and glitter effects plus I used a free bokeh texture (unfortunately the site I borrowed it from is no longer working) as an overlay.

The rest of the week and maybe the next two, I’m talking it easy to regroup after the April A to Z Challenge. Not to worry, if you leave your footprints here on my site, I will follow them back to you. I’ll see you soon!

Have a fototastic day.

  1. Love the twin mushrooms! Mushrooms are so fascinating – I’ve seen so many varieties in the woods as I play disc golf. Also, I checked our Raquel’s blog and love the starfish story!

    1. Eli,

Thank you for playing along. I’m sorry for the delayed response and I certainly appreciate you join my linky party. As well, I’m delighted you’re visiting others who signed on for the fun. Have a good day and I’ll see you soon!

    1. Claudia,

I haven’t done much photography since we’re not taking trips to the mountains while DH’s eye heals. I can’t wait until our lives get back to normal again for us to resume the activities we love but meanwhile, I’m making the most of my time with other creative outlets. 🙂

    1. Tamara,

Hopefully, you’ll find the time needed to take a break in August. It’s hard to make oneself stay away from Blogosphere but you’re an author and that is even harder with social media being such an important factor to your career, so I totally get ya. Thanks for popping by for a visit. 🙂

  2. That is how i wish the world could be! Probably why i wrote a Djinn story.

  3. I just came from looking at a beautiful fairy card and then I see your beautiful picture where you have some really pretty fairies dancing about. I love the mushrooms and it looks like butterflies surround them…that could be just my imagination

    1. Birgit, Fairies are such fun. I have a set of rubber stamps with a fairy theme which I used with bday cards. I’d like to have a little fairy scene set up in my lovely flower garden someday but first I need a yard with good soil.

  4. Cathy, cute TWINS! Great photo of them. So glad you came back after regrouping after the A to Z challenge. Missed your drawings.

  5. Magical. I like the effect with that overlay. Good luck on your story project. I hope it comes together for you as it sounds interesting.

    1. Thank you, Lori! I started on the sketches yesterday. I’m feeling a bit apprehensive but I will stay on course to the finish. It may take me longer than I thought. That’s ok, just as long as I do it, right?

  6. I wish I had them in my fairyland. I should take a picture & share… I did last year and I just brought it out this year… my grandchildren love it. My grandson want to know when they’re gonna fly. I told them they only move or fly when you’re not looking!!! ~snicker-snicker~

  7. These tiny ones are so pretty Cathy.. and your magic is like a fairy tale☺️. I love fairy houses & fairy gardens.

  8. Great special effects, Cathy! 🙂 I’m glad you’re taking a break. Sounds like you and your DH have been experiencing a few health issues and I hope you both get some rest and feel better, soon.

    1. Debbie,

Unfortunately, we’re both under a cloud but DH’s problem is more serious than mine. However, I think we’ll both be okay. It just takes time and patience to ride this wave.

    1. Amy, every time I see mushrooms I think fairy houses. 🙂 I snapped a few shots in the landscaping at the Walmart with my iPhone after I captured this photo with my big girl camera. Maybe I should start a photo series of fairy houses. 🙂

  9. Hi, Cathy!

Those twin mushrooms are cute. They remind me of children whispering secrets to each other on the school playground. If you had sketched them they would surely have whimsical little faces and kind, gentle, innocent eyes. Your picture reminds me of the ones my father took. Mushrooms and tree fungi were among his favorite closeup subjects and he seemed to take forever carefully measuring the distance from subject to lens and adjusting the focus, exposure, etc. My mother was an indoors type of girl, didn’t like the outdoors much, and she used to get impatient with my dad for being so meticulous and taking so much time to get his nature pictures perfect, but I admired him for it.

If you are starting your blog break now, I hope you get some rest, clear your head and have some fun with DH in the great outdoors. Last night I read your reply to my comment on your reflections post and it made me very grateful to have a fine friend like you. 🙂

Take care and have a wonderful Mother’s Day, dear Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Yes, I’m going to take the rest of the week to unwind. I’m starting on my children’s book I mentioned during last month’s challenge. Hopefully, I can work through some rough illustration drafts to get a sense of where I want to go with this picture book. I actually have two versions of my story, a picture book for smaller children and one for early readers (6-8). The latter one would work well for a read-aloud session in school or bedtime. It would be great to get both finished (the contents without the sketches) to get my readers opinion on which version to use in my project.

I hope DH and I can take some time doing something outdoors but our doing these things are limited with DH’s depth of perception being so poor. It awkward for him taking away the pleasure he’d otherwise have with such activities. We may have to be patient until these issues resolve which I feel will after his surgeries toward the end of summer.

Thank you for the Mother’s Day wishes. I’m sure it’ll be an enjoyable day even if it’s just the two of us. I hope you have a beautiful day planned for Mrs. Shady. 🙂 Have a good week and I’ll see you around Blogosphere soon, my friend!
