Linking with Friendship Friday! Look who’s on Vogue! Alright, I can’t fool you. A friend shared the online photo editor PhotoFunia and I created this fun picture, then I added the personal text to the magazine cover. 😉

Ellen at 15andMeowing and Lorraine at Four-Legged Furballs share each Thursday four blank statements for us to copy and paste to create an entry for their Friday Friendly Fill-ins. Rounding things out this is how I filled in the blanks.

1. If you are looking for happiness, try looking to yourself, instead of your peers.  You can’t base your happiness on what others can give. You must first find it within for true contentmentI learned years ago, you can’t rely on anyone to make you happy if you can’t make yourself happy.  It’s good to share your life with someone and it’s wonderful having the support of others but humans often disappoint.  People come and go. They are judgemental and unforgiving.  One’s worth is equal to another, we have to look past the criticism to see the value within and say, I am good enough.  Circumstances or people making you feel this way are often temporary. For me, pushing through it with a grateful heart fills me with peace, replacing sadness with hope.

2. Jesus fills me with hope.  No matter what this life throws at me, I know with Jesus’ light I can see past the storm to a brighter future in Glory!

3. It’s only a matter of time before this COVID-19 mess blows overLet’s see things shape after the election. Something tells me this is partially connected,  but it’s definitely related to politics on a global level.  What’s the surest way to bring about a one-world government then to collapse the economy of all free nations and drive people’s fears totally out of this world crazy? Yep, a pandemic is just the element needed.

4. Just about anything that’s not political is my favorite conversation topic.  In our society one can’t express her opinion without someone getting their feelings hurt and if you don’t agree with the other person then the fall out is your fault not the other person’s.  People can’t be happy anymore unless they and everyone else is miserable.

    1. Tom,

I totally agree there is more than enough stupid to go around. People forgot how to think for themselves long ago and lost their common sense all the way. What a sad, sad world we live in these days!

  1. Thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! I really relate to your answers. They are all so true and so profound. Thank you for sharing these wonderful thoughts with us!

    1. Lorraine,

Thanks for the return visit. I believe we all can connect to one another responses which hold some truth for every person. Have a good weekend, my friend!

  2. So true about anything but politics being a good topic for conversation. Anyway, thanks for the laughs and have a great weekend!

  3. I fully believe that this year politically is going to be a zoo. 2000 is going to look like a 5-minute cartoon compared to what we’re going to see come November. Mary’s prepping like crazy as if the zombie apocalypse is around the corner, and I’m afraid she might be right.

  4. Palm trees, for me, always signify “vacation”. Guess it’s going to be a while before I see one in person. I had my iPhone 4 plus for four years and had so much fun taking pictures with it, too. That “I saw her face” misheard lyric is a classic funny one. We need all the laughter we can get nowadays. These times will pass – they will pass.

    1. Alana,

We upgraded from the iPhone 4 to 5s and we currently have the 8. Which is so much nicer than either of the older two. We hope to keep using the 8 for as long as we can. We aren’t type of people to rush out to buy the latest iPhone. If we can get another year or two out of current phones then we’ll be happy as clams! Why didn’t I pickup on this being a misheard lyrics meme? lol Oh well…it still made me laugh even though I missed it. 🙂

  5. That is a cool Vogue cover, you look like you belong on there. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. #1 is so true, it took me years to learn that. Have a nice weekend. XO

    1. Carol,

Political conversations get a bit out of hand and can be rather depressing. We can’t disagree with respect anymore. Everyone gets offended and swears you off as friend. That’s the silliest thing ever! Oh well…we won’t talk about such matters and enjoy each others’ company sharing fun bloggy stuff. 🙂

  6. These are funny. I laughed out loud at the cat. I have to admit I got caught by a big wave more than once and my friends laughed. I agree that Happiness is always within. People can be happy living in a shack in the woods and be so happy while others can live in a mansion of gold and be so unhappy. Hope comes in the forms of animals and people who look on the bright side and have faith in hope. Too often religion and politics has come to blows so I love talking about Film, art, travel and the weather. Canadians love talking about the weather. Did you know that Henry Fonda and James Stewart were best friends but they once almost came to blows because of politics. Jimmy was a Republican and Fonda, a Democrat. They agreed to never talk politics again and they stuck to that.

    1. Birgit,

You’re right about happiness. Money can’t buy it. The same is true about someone’s weight. Of course no one likes the extra pounds, but it’s obviously these stick thin girls aren’t happy which proves that happiness starts inside first, not outside or what one has. If you don’t have it there, then nothing else is going to bring you happiness. Religion and politics are two hot topics that don’t mingle well and certainly spark some nasty dialogues. It’s really shame, too. I can talk to anyone about a topic and if I see things aren’t going smoothly, then I’d rather back out of the conversation to save a relationship instead of proving my point. What’s the sense in losing a friend over difference of opinions? There’s nothing wrong with talking about the weather. It’s a great ground breaker. Your favorite topics of conversation are fun. I love to see what others enjoy watching because sitting on the couch in front of the TV is a great stress buster. Jimmy & Henry were wise to put their heated difference to rest by never talking about it again. Thanks for visiting! 😉

  7. Good Morning Cathy.

I love all your funnies because I’m into silliness too.

Love your fill-ins and I agree with your covid assessment.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Love and hugs. ♥

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Friday, dear friend! I am here to get a healthy dose of Sillies from Dr. Cathy. I made a joke way back in February that I went to the bank and saw so many masks that I couldn’t tell the customers from the robbers. Little did I know what we were in for, Ha! That husband/father taking a family photo at the beach reminds me of my dad the shutterbug. He was very picky about his pictures, making everyone wait and squint as he tweaked the focus and exposure settings and instructed us to adjust the position of our hands, legs, etc. By the time he got around to taking the picture, people were irritated from the long wait and having to look into the bright sun. I remember many people wading in the ocean and focused on talking to others and getting bowled over by powerful waves. Some of those folks washed up on the beach, got out of the water and called it quits for the day. I stayed in because I loved the challenge of catching and riding big waves at the seashore. Those are funny parody lyrics to the Monkees’ hit “I’m A Believer,” but that girl looks beautiful and out of the guy’s league. Therefore that meme doesn’t make much sense to me. Wow, Cathy K is a Vogue cover girl! 🙂 That PhotoFunia is a cool editing tool. Maybe, as the song goes, Shady’s face can make “the cover of the Rolling Stone.” 🙂

I appreciated your Friday Fill-ins. #1 is so very true. Happiness comes from within. Be happy in your own skin. NLP stated it as “Sort by Self.” Other people and external circumstances cannot “make you happy.” In Werner Erhard’s “est” training, we were asked to consider that happiness itself is overrated, that you can be quite content without constantly searching for and striving for that elusive thing called “happiness.” That might be an even more wise and powerful affirmation.

I enjoyed the song parody from that talented couple a they rewrote the words to Dolly Parton’s hits “9 To 5,” “Jolene” and “Islands In The Stream.” Funny stuff!

Thank you for the smiles, dear friend Cathy. Have a safe and happy weekend!

    1. Tom,

We’ve had moments in the past taking family Christmas pictures with everyone becoming quite tired of the photo session after numerous shots just to make sure one turns out good. Technology today makes this job much easier. The Monkee’s lyrical meme I assumed despite the lovely appearance of the woman from behind that her face may not match up to what one expects. That’s why I found it funny. 😀 I’ve always been a firm believer that happiness lies first within me. It’s wonderful having good friends and a lifetime partner but sometimes one isn’t meant to have such relationships or at the very least ones that aren’t as supportive as you hope for and that’s when an individual needs to see that he/she has to be happy first in order to be truly happy. I hope those who can’t see their self worth and enjoy a life filled with happiness. Thanks for joining me for some smiles today, my friend!
