Wayback Wednesdays Presents: Star Gazing to Star Watching

Angela @ Mommy Time Out has prompted us to go Wayback Wednesday to the year…

1988!

Where were you and what do you remember?

Space the final frontier has marveled mankind.  The popular TV series turn Hollywood big screen sensation Star Trek caused us to wonder about what’s beyond our horizon.

The Hubble Space Telescope began operating that year, which gave humanity glimpses of images never seen or at least not like what it’s capable of sharing.

Are you intrigued by the universe, far away galaxies, or star-gazing? Be in awe, as you click-through the Hubble’s site photo gallery, and for an instance soak up the sense you have gone where no man has ever gone before.
Can you image, how some of the early astronomers like Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton would gasp at how truly brilliant these discoveries are? As distinguished as we may envision these men, I believe they would have a jaw dropping experience, if they could see what the Hubble has given the world. Deep space exploration is cool and should remain a part of our culture indefinitely!

From staring gazing to star watching, we have Thomas Edison’s revolutionary invention, the Kinetoscope, (the first movie projector) in 1897 on this day in history to thank for Hollywood’s turn out of incredible film entertainment.

The 80s was a like a skyrocket climbing higher and higher achieving great things for a glorious decade. Of course, my personal all-time high in 1988 coincidentally was the birth of my own little star, Brittany Alexandria, on June 28th. You can read more about that blessed day, here.

Thank you for lighting up my life, Sweetie!

Did you know that heavenly stars are born?  They are! To learn about a cosmic star birth read about it at MSNBC.

  1. Hi Cathy,

I just wanted to thank you for your comment and for following me. I’m returning the favor as your newest follower!

Seriously – thanks for the tips. Potty training is just DAUNTING. I’m definitely putting it off until AFTER the holidays… he’ll be 2.5 then, so that’s probably good to start. 😉

I LOVE the “Way back Wednesday” posts! The picture of your little star is SO cute – I love looking back at baby pics from awhile ago. So many things have changed, but even more have stayed the same!

I look forward to hearing/reading more from you! 🙂
