Another fantasy novel sequel to Lady, Thy Name is Trouble by Lori MacLaughlin

Tara Triannon is no stranger to trouble. She’s yet to find an enemy her skill with a sword couldn’t dispatch. But how can she fight one that attacks through her dreams?

With her nightmares worsening, Tara seeks answers but finds only more questions. Then her sister, Laraina, reveals a stunning secret that forces Tara to go to the one place Tara’s sworn never to return to. Her troubles multiply when Jovan Trevillion, the secretive soldier of fortune who stole her heart, is mentally tortured by an ancient Being intent on bending him to its will. And worst of all, the Butcher — the terrifying wolf-like assassin she thought she’d killed — survived their duel and is hunting her again.

Hounded by enemies, Tara sets out on a harrowing quest to discover the true nature of who she is, to come to grips with the new volatility of her magic, and to defeat the evil locked in a centuries-old trap that will stop at nothing to control her magic and escape through her nightmares.

Okay, you read the book jacket. Now to quench your curiosity with this little snippet for the book.

What do I do? she whispered mentally, shaken by the visions.

More images slipped into her mind: the rising and setting of the sun three times in swift succession; a towering cataract, its dark torrent crashing silently into a pool obscured by mist and spray; a deep, wide valley — an empty sweep of withered grass beside a lake rippling with black water. As she watched, the dead grass in the center of the valley began to shimmer in ever-widening circles, and then tall, black spires rose from the blurred ground, climbing into a sky bright with morning until an ethereal edifice of black stone filled her vision, breathtakingly beautiful with its graceful, curving lines and elegant minarets.

“A black castle,” she breathed, remembering Jovan’s vision from Rinpool that he’d seen as a boy, so long ago. It had to be the same one.

Now, a little about my friend Lori L. MacLaughlin…

LoriLMacLaughlin

Lori traces her love of fantasy adventure to Tolkien and Terry Brooks, finding The Lord of the Rings and The Sword of Shannara particularly inspirational. She’s been writing stories in her head since she was old enough to run wild through the forests on the farm on which she grew up.

She has been many things over the years – tree climber, dairy farmer, clothing salesperson, kids’ shoe fitter, retail manager, medical transcriptionist, journalist, private pilot, traveler, wife and mother, Red Sox and New York Giants fan, muscle car enthusiast and NASCAR fan, and a lover of all things Scottish and Irish.

When she’s not writing (or working), she can be found curled up somewhere dreaming up more story ideas, taking long walks in the countryside, or spending time with her kids. She lives with her family in northern Vermont.

I encourage you to connect with Lori by frequently visiting her personal  Website/Blog.

Let’s show a little love (that’s what bloggers do, right?) by spreading the word of Lori’s newest book release.;)

  1. This book definitely does not sound boring at all!! What an adventure it must be. I love that it has that fantasy Tolkien feel. I’ll have to add to my summer reading list. Thanks for sharing.

    1. You’re welcome, Lori! I’m happy to help a friend. I think it’s awesome when others do more than dream about being a published author. Of course, dreaming is the first step, but u think you know what I mean. Hard work and determination are two components needed to succeed in the publishing industry. Some just want it more than others & although I’m not quite to that point I’m always thrilled to see others reach that pentacle. Congrats, my friend & the best of luck to ya! ?
