To My Children, I love you!

Thank  you for joining me on the dance floor this morning, Kittens & Dawgs! Are y’all doing the A2Z Challenge next month? I am and if you’re looking for my theme reveal today, it is HERE.   Alrighty it’s to crank up the volume. This is “freebie” week, so the theme is your choice. Sometime last year, someone came up with the weekly prompt of using song titles featuring female or male namesI created a post using my children’s names for inspiration and for some reason it just stayed in “drafts” and since I’m on a time crunch to get my A2Z posts done being the genius that I am decided to put it in cue.  Although my song choices (all new-to-me) are written from non-motherly perspective I found a phrase in each that spoke to me and so I dedicate this morning’s mewsic to: Brittany, Nicole, and Austin – I love you!

Everybody’s heart breaks, everybody falls down
Sticks and stones baby won’t break your bones
You think you’re on your own
Well Brittany, you’re not alone

Oh, Nicole
My sweet Nicole
Oh, Nicole
Sweet, sweet Nicole

If your callin’ ’bout the car I sold it
If this is Tuesday night I’m bowlin’
If you’ve got somethin’ to sell your wastin’ your time, I’m not buyin’
If it’s anybody else wait for the tone you know what to do
And P.S. if this is Austin I still love you

I never had trouble expressing how I felt about my children and told them often but you can’t say “I love you” enough. This little tender diddy is so sweet and so, I’ll have to say I LOVE YOU in a song, my dear children!

Please join my fellow co-hosts: XmasDolly, Stacy, & usually Colette helps out but she’s on blog leave tending to health issues. Continue to keep her in prayer. Meanwhile, we have our fabulous friend, Michelle, returning as co-host. It’s great having you onboard!  Now, step out on the dance floor with the 4M gang, just link your mewsic post below.

  1. Hi Cathy,
That’s so sweet how you chose and dedicated each one of these songs to your children. I didn’t know the first one. My favorite is “Nicole” by Point Blank. It’s vaguely familiar and they’re from my era but I can’t say for sure that I know their music. I checked out one of their other hits that may have gotten play on AOR radio and didn’t recognize it. But I really dig the song Nicole! GREAT music style!
And Austin has a special geographic meaning to me being that I live in Austin (and yes, we’re soooo relieved that the Austin Bomber is no more! He blew himself up not far from me and apparently they found that his next target was the town right next to me: my subdivision actually sits on the line of that town and the one I’m in. I kinda hate that he blew himself up because there are so many unanswered questions. An awesome press conference was given today with representatives from each of the agencies involved in the case speaking (FBI, ATF, APD, TX Rangers, etc) and it was incredible to hear how they worked together to find this guy. Our city has been on edge for a few weeks now because his targets were just random and he kept changing his method of delivery…especially scary was when he set a trip wire and two young guys walking along the road set it off and were injured but thankfully not killed. Two people died: a beloved local man and father to an 8 year old girl and a 17 year old boy with tons of potential. So awful). Anyway, I’m here in Austin so I really like this Blake Shelton song. It’s a good one. Love the lyrics.
And I love love love Jim Croce!
You ended with one of my favorite Elton John songs. Bennie and the Jets is such a great classic!

Nice 4M post. Have fun doing the A-Z…

    1. Michele,

I was relieved the Texas bomber threats ended. Although, we might get some answers from this guy none would make sense or even just his actions. It’s truly sad on all accounts. People were hurt or died at this man’s hands. Also, this man…no time for remorse or to ask for God’s or the families he wronged forgiveness. I suppose he could’ve made his peace with our heavenly Father before blowing himself up but we’ll never know this. As I said, it’s sad on all accounts. I know Texaneans can breathe a sigh of relief with this madness over.

The first two artists were introductions but I all three songs I liked. Blake’s song is especially tender. I’ve come to enjoy his mewsic a lot in recent years and I love him on The Voice. Isn’t Blake from Texas? Thanks for stopping by for a dance and be sure to join me next month for A2Z posts while you’re recouping from surgery. 😉 Have a good week!

    1. Thanks, Birgit. I count myself blessed to have three wonderful children who mean everything in my life. I can’t imagine life without them. 🙂

  2. Songs for your children’s names is a great theme! I’ve heard all three of my kids names in songs, but for the youngest, we have to change words for her because not many songs have a little bit of Erica on the side.

  3. The Jim Croce song sure brought back memories of the time! I love your Spark for today too, it is my belief that if you can’t see any blessings in your life you aren’t looking very hard! There is not a day that I am not thankful for being blessed in some way. There is always something to be thankful for! Have a blessed week ahead, Cathy! <3

  4. Whoa! Those names couldn’t have been easy to find songs for although I would have thought Lionel Richie would’ve had a Nicole song being as that’s HIS daughter’s name. The EJ song was a nice touch. I’ve got a pawty going and hope you stop by. Enjoy your week.

    1. Yes, I thought Lionel would have a Nicole song, too. It was a bit challenging finding songs using my kids’ names but not it was the effort to dig up what I did. Thanks for stopping by, Cathy! I’m away from the ‘puter at the moment & its too darn difficult to hear mewsic when I’m out but not to worry I’ll boogie by your place later. 😉

  5. Oh wow, what a wonderful Post & your tunes for your children & what lovely names you’ve chosen. Love them… some day you’ll have to tell me the story about picking Brittany, Nicole and Austin names. I’m sure it’s going to be adorable, but you’ve given me an idea. I think we should make this a theme… if not pick a song with the beginning letter of each child’s name of our dancers.. they can even throw in daddy… whatcha think??? Your tunes are awesome we’re dancin’ too! We’re ROCKIN! Your 2nd tune thanks for the introduction that one has an off beat, but it’s definitely awesome! Sweet Nicole. When I was younger (late 20’s early 30’s) my best friend’s name was Nicole & I have a granddaughter name Niki (Nicole) who’s a pitcher & loves baseball. I really think she’ll get a scholarship for this talent. She has been clocked for 41 mph… (I think that’s what it was). Blake Shelton had a hand in writing the next tune is awesome & naturally your last tune Jim Croce’s tune is just great… he’s great! Benny & the Jets well, they wore that tune out when it first came out. hahahaha Have a rockin’ week my friend. Great dance… ya wore me out! ~snicker~

  6. So Brittany, Nicole and Austin are your kids? These were nice, and “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song” is my favorite Jim Croce song.

  7. Visiting here always makes me smile. That’s a good thing and thank you for that.

It’s cold here and I’m sick. I’ve not been sick for ages. I hate being sick. Everything is an effort.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. I hope you’re over whatever you have soon and that warm weather soon arrives to your neck of the woods. It was gorgeous here over the weekend and this week we’ll be riding a weather rollercoaster. Saying prayers for you and sending love your way!

  8. Happy Monday, Cathy. Well, it’s dreary here in my neck of the woods but there’s nothing dreary about your post today! Thanks for the day brightener! 🌞

  9. That was a sweet idea to have a song for each child. I had not heard 2 of them, but I love Austin. I also like Jim Croce’s music, especially that song. Have a great week! XO

  10. Hi, Cathy!

Your Monday mewsic moved me. It was sweet of you to send love to your children and to your son-in-law by locating songs that contain their names. The first two, the emo rock bands and recordings, were brand new to my ears, and I enjoyed them. I am familiar with Blake Shelton but never heard his song “Austin” before. It’s another good one. The last two, Jim Croce’s “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song” and Elton John’s “Bennie And The Jets,” are very familiar to me. Both songs were big hits and major memory makers from my younger years. Again it was very nice of you to remind your children how much you love them by finding and posting these name songs.

Have a great week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

It’s always a pleasure to introduce new mewsic to you. As I mentioned the ones you didn’t know are also new to me. I so love finding jewels when I pull my mewsic posts together. Have a pawsome week and thanks for stopping by today, my friend!
