Thursday2Q: First App of the day/Helpful or Not

Posted on January 25, 2018

Good-morning, kittens and dawgs! How are y’all doing today? Life is good on this end. I’m still looking for a replacement refrigerator.  I believe in taking my time if not pressed to make an immediate purchase for something expensive.

4M party goer, Mike, shared this tune by The Smithereens in a tribute to Pat DiNizio this week. Honestly, I do not remember this 1980s band so it was a happy surprise to hear this song for the first time.

If you enjoyed this sample, then listen to The Smithereens YouTube playlist.

I’m sure most of y’all have a smartphone. There are few out there who do not. I got my first iPhone in 2010. I wasn’t sure if I’d like. I really didn’t understand all the fuss but now I can’t imagine living without it. It’s great having a powerful computer, camera, GPS, weather system, mewsic player, and so much more with me all the time. This brings me to my T2Q.

1. What is the first app you look at the start of your day? Excluding messages popped on my screen, I look routinely at the Weather app each morning. I have several different  weather apps on my phone but I always use the one developed by The Weather Channel. RIP John Coleman (co-founder of The Weather Channel).

2. Do you feel it’s helpful or a distraction and would you recommend it? The Weather app is a huge help and I recommend it. The only negative I have is the layout. I liked how they once had it where I could swipe across my saved forecast areas.  Now, I can only switch between them making it more troublesome. Bummer!

Bonus: What’s your favorite, fun app to use regularly on your smartphone? Spider Solitaire is problem my favorite but a few months ago I downloaded Snoopy Pop and think it’s a lot of fun. I love Snoopy! Not as much as I love DH but I like him an awful lot. 😀

I hope you enjoyed my little Q&A session. Feel free to borrow, answer in comments, or create a T2Q post. Let me know if you do the latter. 😉  I hope you hop back over tomorrow for some giggles and a whole lot more of Friday Fun Stuff!

X💋X💋, Cathy

I do have the weather app also and should use it more often so I”m not surprised!

      Colette,

I look at the weather app either on my phone or visit their site each morning. This helps us to plan for the day better. I hate not knowing what to expect. Of course, they have gotten it wrong a few times. 🙂

I have an Android, which I love. I like weather apps and don’t many games on my phone. However, I like to play games on my Kindle Fire and my laptop.

      Eugenia,

I have nearly the same apps on my iPhone as I do my iPad but I tend to play Solitaire and other games on my phone more. 🙂

It’s been a very long time since i played Spider solitaire, i wonder if i would remember how. Great answers, a good weather app is needed to get you ready for the day!

      Mimi,

You might be a little rusty but I’m sure you can pick Spider solitaire again. It’s like riding a bike! Yep, weather apps are awesome. Before making any plans we always check the weather app. It’s funny how our life revolves around technology.

I hope you find the refrigerator you are looking for. Thanks for your kind comments on my blog. Art is a constantly learning process, I think it evolves as we try to do our best.

      Lisa,

I have the refrigerators narrowed down to three possibilities. Now to locate and look at, then we can buy. I like the learning process drawing gives but it’s interesting I believe sketching helps strengthen my cognitive abilities. My brain felt a bit foggy and scrambled but since I started doodling every day I’ve noticed that I think clearer. 🙂

Would you believe I have a clock app on my phone? It’s the first thing I look at when I wake up in the morning. I can’t see the microscopic default time display!

I am following you on G+, sweetie!

Oops! I can’t follow you on G+. It says ‘restricted’!

        Veronica,

Hmm, I don’t know what’s with G+ saying “restricted”. I will have to investigate. Thanks for the heads up! 🙂

      Veronica,

I’m curious, do you have an iPhone? When my phone is in lock screen mode and I raise my phone the text is plenty big. But, when it’s not in lock mode the time is hard to read without my glasses. So, I definitely get you on having a clock app for this problem.

I don’t look at my phone at the start of my day. I play Candy Crush when I am waiting for something/someone and I check Instagram periodically.

Love your answers. I play spider solitaire all the time. Fun game.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. ♥
