Thursday Q&T: Hump-day chat session, a day late

I am yet to get back on track. Last month’s blog challenge kinda tossed things up in the air, mostly the direction I want to go and how to get things accomplished. Please bear with me, as this morning I’m playing a day late with a few fun Q&A hops. Wanna come with?

My first stop takes me to Patrice’s @ Everyday Ruralty for  Chats on the farmhouse porch. This week, she asks:

  1. Do you ever watch YouTube? I occasionally watch a funny video, but mostly I watch music videos.
  2. How are your picture-taking (photography) skills? I consider myself average or above. I enjoy practicing my shutterbug skills on the weekends. DH got an early anniversary present, a Nikon macro lens, for me & I can’t wait to try it out!
  3. What’s your “go-to” meal to prepare when you’re in a hurry? Crackers, nuts, or pretzels.
  4. Do you like shoe shopping? Not really, but then again I don’t like shopping for myself.
  5. If you could be royalty for a day, would you try it? I would like the idea of being pampered for the day, like royalty, but other than that I wouldn’t like it.

Continuing the Q&A session, let’s visit Joyce @From This Side of the Pond for Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. It’s still May, right? When were you last in the middle of something that might be described as mayhem? The only thing remotely causing chaos in my life this month is our scheduling. There has been at least one and sometimes two doctor appointments for either myself or husband this month. Don’t worry. Everything is fine. We are just getting our routine visits out-of-the-way all at once, so we can enjoy the rest of the year.

2. When did you last feel dismayed? Every time I look at the property, I feel a bit dismayed. Trying to find the perfect place that will work in my price range is challenging, but I am hopeful. I just have to keep at it.

3. What’s a food combination you like, but other people may find strange? Although it’s been awhile since I had this, one of my favorite combos is salted peanuts in my cola, not with my cola, but actually floating inside my bottle of soda and with each drink, I get the taste of that salty goodness.

4. “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” Do you think that’s true? Why or why not? Im not sure how I feel about this one. I thought once the children were out of the house that I would go back to school to earn a degree in something I wanted to do, but I find that I just don’t have the interest needed.

5. US News and World Report listed the best historic destinations in the US as follows –Washington D.C, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Williamsburg Virginia, Charleston South Carolina, Boston Massachusetts, Richmond Virginia, Savannah GA, Santa Fé New Mexico, Yellowstone, San Antonio Texas, San Francisco California, New Orléans Louisiana, and Charlottesville VA.  Of those listed how many have you seen in person? Which two sites on the list would you most like to see in person? When I was a teenager, my family visited my aunt. She lives just outside of Williamsburg, Virginia. I would love to see Williamsburg at Christmas. In 1989 two months before our first daughter’s birthday we took an impromptu trip to Myrtle Beach, SC and visited Charleston, SC will in the area. We have been to Boston, MA twice over the years and this is one city I would like to visit again. Back in the late 90s, we were in Savannah, GA but it wasn’t a pleasure trip. We were only there because a friend’s mother suddenly passed away. We breezed in and out, no sight-seeing done.

6. May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. If you had to participate in a single fitness activity for the next half hour, which activity would you choose? What a coincidence, I will be participating in my daily aerobic activity shortly, riding my stationary bike for 2-hours.

7. What did you like best about the city, town, or neighborhood where you grew up? There wasn’t too much to like in southern WV. When I was really young, about 5 or younger, in the nearby town, there was a curbside diner and the drugstore served food. The town a two shops where most people did their shopping. Lacy’s sold clothing and Ben Franklin had a bit of everything. There was even a Company store (owned by coal mines) where folks bought groceries, as well as some apparel, shoes, and toys. By the time I hit my early teens most of this vanished and if we wanted to do something special then it was a long drive away. Needless to say, that didn’t happen very often. The only thing that made the area likable is friends and family.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. We are watching Dallas 2012 on Netflix and have nearly finished with season 2. Are you watching it? In the 80s, we watched the original Dallas TV show sporadically.  I was happy to see the writers do an outstanding job in the new production, and I can’t wait for season 3 to show up on Netflix!

Until next time, be well and enjoy life!

  1. Have fun with that macro lens! I love mine. I have some extension tubes that I need to figure out as well as some close-up filters that are fun to play with, too. Happy shooting!

    Have a great week. 🙂

  2. Macro lens! I am saving up for the 105mm 2.8 macro for my D610. But then again I am also saving up for the 70-200 28. Photography is an expensive hobby 🙂

Have a lovely day and be sure to stop by my corner of the blog world to read my chat

  3. Thank you for stopping by! always a joy to see new people. I would have raised my children the same way like you, however, my nieces mom I guess she never felt the need to do just that…the events are from 2006 and just now reopening the case file…thank you for the prayers

  4. I would love to go to Boston and will fulfill that wish next fall when we take a good size New England visit/

    1. Definitely swing by Boston! We didn’t spend near enough time there, but we were pressed. It was fun what we managed to squeeze in, though.
