The Ventures’ Christmas Album & BOTB Results

Posted on December 8, 2024
A memory from last Christmas. What fun we had!

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays!  I can’t believe it’s December already.  The year went by faster than I imagined and here it is the Christmas season again.  Like last year, I added a Christmas inspired themes every other week for anyone needing ideas but you’re good if you want to boogie to your drum with whatever Christmas music moves you!

A couple of years ago, John from The Sound of One Hand Typing, shared a cool rendition of “Sleigh Bells” which got me curious.  Let’s get your groove on with these rock versions of some classic Christmas tunes with The Ventures’ Christmas Album!

Remember music themes are only suggestions.  I don’t care one way or another.  The important thing is to share whatever music moves you. Now, it’s your turn!

This is a music link up.  Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music”.

In last week’s Christmas Time’s A Comin’ BOTB, I asked y’all to vote for your favorite artist between Riders in the Sky or the Oak Ridge Boys.  There’s something to like about both of my cover artists.   I loved how each vocalist in each group blended well with one another.  While both covers were happy sounding. I overall preferred Riders in the Sky which seemed to embody a wee more cheer to my ear and got my vote. Now, a recap on the votes.

The Oak Ridge Boys

  1. Debbie
  2. Eugi
  3. Sandee
  4. Brian
  5. Diedre
  6. Birgit

Riders in the Sky

  1. Me
  2. Lee
  3. Stephen
  4. Mimi

I sort of knew when I set this battle up that my favorite might not come out on top but in my book they’re still the best.  There you have it, the winner is the Oak Ridge Boys!

I don’t routinely participate in the mid-month BOTB rounds but I have another Christmas edition scheduled for the 15th, so please join the fun.

Today is my late MIL’s 93rd anniversary of her birth and it’s her 10th birthday in heaven.  She was a wonderful, loving, and caring woman who made everyone’s life better that knew her.

Watch for new editions in this month’s special feature of You’ve Got Mail to publish this week. Have a boogietastic day!

I didn’t know The Ventures made a Christmas album! They certainly put their signature sound on it. 🙂 As for your battle, it was a good close one, unlike mine.

    Such fun Christmas music!

The battle was a good one.

Even if she’s been gone 10 years, I know you still miss your M-i-L, I hope her memory brings you and your husband much comfort in this season.

A really good and close Battle, CAThy!
I enjoyed both versions, but the ghost of Roy Rogers yodeling in the Riders In The Sky rendition is what sold me on it!

Have a terrific week, and I’ll catch ya in the next round of BOTB.

I was a huge Ventures fan in high school. Instrumentals just don’t make the top 40 any longer. Thanks for bringing them to the dance floor.
We spent a week in Nashville the first week of this month. Great time in a city filled with world class musicians. Have a blessed week.

The Ventures were one of the first rock groups that I actually liked. They still sound good.

I stand by my choice on the Battle, but it was still a good outcome.

I plan to do a 15th Battle too. My current results are up now.

The Ventures certainly had their own sound, and this album was true to it. Nice hearing these instrumentals. Alana ramblinwitham

Durn it, Cathy! I KNOW I voted on your BOTB, and I voted for the Oak Ridge Boys, too. Hmmm. My comment disappeared from or never arrived at John Holton’s BOTB, also. Bummer! ~Ed.

Ed, I just checked my spam folder to see if yours got thrown in there but nope nothing! Anything is possible when it comes to blogging. Your vote would’ve only given the Oak Ridge Boys would’ve pushed a head by one more count. I was so disappointed that Riders didn’t win. I really love their version! Thanks for stopping by!

This makes me think of that meme about the Guns’n;Roses Welcome to the Jingle…(and then I get THAT earworm in my head….ha!)
