The Tide Is High BOTB

How many of y’all knew Blondie covered The Tide Is High? It came as a shock to me but the original was done by the Paragons in 1967.

For a split second I thought about putting these two artists on center stage for your vote but I think I know how they’ll go done.  I found five contenders.  At first I thought I’d go with the best male/female band but I felt the battle might not go down well since both male were reggae style. So, I putting my two favorite female group picks in this showdown.

If nothing else you gotta love the name of my first contender, Atomic Kitten. SPMM introduced the English girl trio band to my ears a few years back. Get ready to chair boogie to the Europop sound of Atomic Kitten!

 

My next discovery isn’t an all female band as I originally thought. Yeah, I heard the female lead and backup singer(s), saw the word “blonde” and thought women. *roll eyes* In my defense it was early the morning I reviewed music and hadn’t had my coffee, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. In fact, you may just like their unique, down-to-earth, Rocky Mountain vibe. You decide as you listen to Dakota Blonde!

 

 

Two different sounds both excellent but only one can take your vote. Who will that be – Atomic Kitten or Dakota Blonde?  I’m not going to lie to you, it’s gonna be a hard pick for me!

    It’s that me again.

    I did not know that the Blondie hit was a cover. I never liked it (nor anything else Blondie ever did), but as soon as I cast this vote I’m going to go listen to the Paragons original to see what I thinks o’ it.

    Europop? Eh… needs more cowbell.

    I absolutely, positively, definitely, and definitively preferred DAKOTA BLONDE to the “kittens”. I don’t mind a Country sound. It goes good with beer and Beer Nuts.

  4. Blondie’s version is the only one I knew until now! 🙂 I didn’t care for Dakota Blonde’s vocals and much preferred Atomic Kitten. Their arrangement was better, too.

  7. I vote for Atomic Kitten.
    They sound good and look good, and make the song fun. I’d guess the one (don’t know her name) has had her baby and must be a teen by now, at least!
    Yes, the only person I ever heard sing this before was Blondie.
    The other song, okay, but a little too hokey country for me. 🙂

  9. I really liked Dakota Blonde a lot, but somehow Atomic Kitten appealed to me more this morning. They get my vote.

    2. Dakota Blonde gets my vote because they made the song unique. I was not as fond of Atomic Kitten, although love the name, due to the bubblegum sound.
