The Love Train Presents: One Hit Wonders!

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me with our head conductor,  Marie from Xmas Dolly!  Assisting on the Love Train for your enjoyment are co-conductors: Lorie of The Shewbridges of Central Florida, CALLIE from JAmericanSpice, and Stacy from Stacy Uncorked!

I love rockin’ on Mondays!  I just love it when we can share the tunes rolling around inside our noggins, don’t you? There’s always a lot of music locked away just screaming to get out.  This week’s theme is “One Hit Wonders” suggested by hkgk gang” or “Grandma’s Favorites” suggested by Stacey Merrill.

Listed #73,  as Billboard’s Greatest Song of All Times from 1976, Play That Funky Music.

The hit movie, Staying Alive, pushed this song to the billboard hits as number 10 in 1983, Far From Over by Frank Stallone.

From 1985, The Bold and the Beautiful soap star, Jack Wagner hit #2 with, All I Need.

In 1986, heart-throb and Miami Vice star, Don Johnson took to the charts with his song, Heartbeat becoming an international hit on the billboards at #5.

Being a Rodney Dangerfield fan-of-sorts, I couldn’t resist including this in the mix from 1983.

I don’t know what my grandma’s favorite song was. The early 40s she would have been a teenager, I would imagine her enjoying something like this #13 top hit Sentimental Journey.

  1. Fabuous choices!
I love the song Funky Music and still sing in loud whenever I hear it… there’s no way that song would be able to be played in today’s market.
I had totally forgotten about Jack Wagner and Don Johnson having singles on the Billboard charts, but no wonder they were one-hit-wonders. HaHa
As for Doris Day and Sentimental Journey, I adore that – she is one of my favorite actresses ever. Thanks for sharing that one.
    Have a great week.

  2. Awesome choices! I always assumed that Play that Funky Music was by, like, KC and the Sunshine, Sly and the Family Stone (like that makes any sense) or somebody… goes to show how much I know, haha!

  3. Wow, I had no idea Frank Stallone sang that song. It figures keep it in the family huh? And Rodney Dangerfield is always a hoot. All your choices are fabulous. You so ROCK, and my Mom was a Doris Day fan for sure. She loved the movies with her and Gordon McCray or however, you spell it. hehehe By the way, Welcome aboard.
