The weather has been weird and unpredictable but at long last it’s March 1st. Looking ahead at our forecast, today shows the mid 60s with winds out of the WSW at 12mph. If that holds true, then that sounds pretty darn good. How are thing were you live, did March come in like a lion or a lamb?
In today’s battle I thought it would be fun to put two different songs up for you in The Lion VS the Lamb BOTB.
No doubt, you’ll know both artists and you may know both song titles, too. First up, I have The Tokens with their 1961 #1 hit, The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Next is the King of Soul, Otis Redding with his uncharted single, Mary’s Little Lamb.
Polls close at noon (ET) on the 7th!
That concludes another edition of Battle of the Bands. I hope you have time to check out the other battles underway. The list of participants is in my side bar beneath the BOTB banner. Don’t forget to tell me in comments who’s your favorite artist. I will post the results in next week’s Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays. Speaking of which, feel free to hit the dance floor with me tomorrow! Thanks for joining the fun and have a bandtastic day, my friends.

Love the cat meme! 😆 Yeah, who wants to see snow in March? Pouring rain here and ours is melting. That would be good except there’s flooding in some places. Anyway, on to the battle… The Otis Redding song was new to me, and I liked it a little better than The Tokens, which still gets a lot of radio airplay.
Another vote for the lion song over the lamb song. Otis Redding owns “the dock of the bay” but I think the right way to sing nursery songs is the way everyone learned them in the nursery.
I love The Lion Sleeps Tonight so they get my vote even though I love Otis Redding. I hope you had a nice weekend
It’s the Tokens for me 😉 Always got a kick out of the Lion Sleeps Tonight song. I’ve enjoyed Otis Redding’s songs – till this one.
We’ve gone from 80 over the weekend to barely crawling up to 60 degrees today. Hope it’s not an omen 😉 The wind is relentless, but I’m hoping it ushers in the Spring.
Going with The Tokens.
VOTE = THE TOKENS
The Lion Sleeps Tonight is (for me) one of those go-to pick-me-up fun songs – and especially fun for a tenor to sing along with! I like Otis Redding, and this was an okay song; but not one I’ll be rushing to add to any of my playlists. ~Ed.
Winter is making another appearance in my neck of the woods. I’ve always liked The Lion Sleeps Tonight, however, I like Otis Redding’s, Mary’s Little Lamb. My vote goes to Otis.
CAThy ~
The Lion VERSUS The Lamb?
But… but… The Lion and The Lamb are the same Person!! :^D
I have always liked ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’.
The Otis Redding song… I could take it or leave it.
I’m dropping my voting token into the bucket labeled “The Tokens”.

Two very dissimilar songs, but I enjoyed both. I’m going with The Tokens, I liked it a bit better.
I would go with the Tokens every single time!
Since it’s cloudy white outside right now and comfortably cool I’m going to say we are having lamb weather in L.A. Kind of the same as always with not too much temperature variations. It’s kind of nice.
I used to hear “The Lion” all the time on the radio when I was a kid and many times since. Never has been a favorite song of mine, but hard to dislike. I do like the music of Otis Redding a lot, but this song seems like pretty much kind of a throw away.
I’ll give my vote to The Tokens.
