The First Day of Summer

A brief lapse in my blogging hiatus to bring to you some giggles to celebrate the official first day of summer.

This pretty much sums up my agenda when I was a kid
This is how I’d look if I kept my summer goals from my childhood days.

This is CAAC signing off, saying enjoy the summer!

  1. Happy Summer, Cathy! 😀 You’ve selected some cute funnies and a good tune to mark the occasion. I’m going to enjoy every minute of the season, because it will get cold again, before we know it.

    1. Debbie,

The seasons do quickly pass. I plan to stay indoors where it’s cool for the most part. 🙂 Enjoy the sunshine and warmth, my dear!

  2. Hard to believe we’re here already. Yesterday I ran our AC for the second time this year, mainly because some family members came by yesterday evening and I didn’t want them complaining it was too hot. I’m trying to limit the AC as well as our water consumption. Not so much that I’m a responsible citizen who is overly concerned about the environment, but I just want to watch our expenses. We’re not driving as much either. Now if all these other crazies would stop driving so much!

Hope you summer is going well.

    Lee

  3. Love all the funnies. I can do the summer reading. Summer is here.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Happy Summer Days Cathy! Do you know I once worked with a woman who had…um…issues. she told me she was with her husband enjoying a small town but wanted to get going. Her spouse said, ” Let’s relax a little qe don’t need to go anywhere.” Her response was ” OK, let’s hurry up and relax.”. She meant It! I told her she was pn drugs…hahHa. these are good funnies but I hate the dead of summer when it’s unbearable. I stay inside because of my asthma plus I don’t sweat. I have never had beads of sweat falling down my face. I have over- heated where I need to ho into the tub to bring my body temp down. My mom had this and my Opa as well. The body can be so weird.

      1. Birgit,

You poor dear, you have some ailments that really keep you from enjoying the outdoors. I thought of you while we were out running errands on Saturday. It was warm but the humidity made it unbearably hot. The things we want to for our vacation later this fall I got reservations for everything so maybe I can unwind just a bit but I’m getting really charged and can’t wait for our trip!

  4. Hi, Cathy!

Happy first day of summer – 2022, dear friend! Mark my words. Fast as this year is passing, before you know it, we’ll be saying “Merry Christmas!” I hope you and DH had a nice weekend. I’m ready for some giggles here at CAAC!

I enjoyed your sillies for Tickle Me Tuesday. Regarding cartoon #1, here in Florida, we don’t need to rush to experience summertime. We have summerlike temps eight or nine months of the year. The next two sillies remind me of our black cat Boots aka “Bootsie Wootsie.” All he wants to do is eat and sleep and repeat. For napping, he always looks for a spot on a rug where rays of sunlight are focused because the warmth feels good on his coat. You are very wise for practicing self control and maintaining a slim figure all these years. Holding the line in the battle of the bulge becomes more of a challenge the older you get.

I wasn’t familiar with singer/musician Tony Carey and needed to do some side research. I read that he was keyboardist for Ritchie Blackmore’s British rock supergroup Rainbow featuring Ronnie James Dio. Carey’s solo single “First Day of Summer” can be found on his 1984 album Some Tough City. It’s a darn catchy song!

Thanks for the smiles to start my day. I hope you are well and in good spirits this week. Take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of it, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

The only time I want to be in Florida is in the winter. I know the temperature and humidity is awful for y’all right now. Stay indoors where it’s cooler. Oh you’re so right about the battle of the bulge being a difficult thing to overcome with every passing birthday. I haven’t been nearly as proactive as I had hoped with my diet and exercising. All the craziness this spring with everything breaking down and now gearing up for vacation. I’m just going to enjoy the madness because we don’t do ‘real’ vacations. This will the first one in more than two decades. Can you believe that? I think we’re ready to give into the idea of taking a vacation more regularly. Life is too short to not enjoy. Thanks for the tidbits on my featured artist and song. I really should find time to add cool factoids with my posts. You’re so good with teaching me something new with every song I share. Have a good day, my friend!
