The Click Five

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Thank you for making the Sunday Edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me apart of your day! The theme this week is your choiceWhatever music moves you is sure to move the rest of this morning.  Last week’s playlist produce a spin off to a new-to-me band I clicked on when I noticed they had a Happy Birthday song which appears on the MODERN MINDS AND PASTIMES playlist.  Allow me to introduce to you the American band, The Click Five.

MODERN MINDS AND PASTIMES song tracks: 1: Flipside 2. Jenny 3. Happy Birthday 4. Addicted to Me 5. I’m Getting Over You 6. When I’m Gone 7. Headlight Disco 8. The Reason Why 9. All I Need Is You 10. Long Way to Go 11. Mary Jane 12. Empty

The Click Five (TCV) formed in 2004 and achieved moderate success in their early years selling more than two million albums world wide and created eight number 1 hits across several countries. However, throughout 2006 interest began to fade and they spent the following year trying to redefine themselves. It was in 2007 MODERN MINDS AND PASTIMES album released. It didn’t meet the bands’ expectations selling only 50,000 copies in the US and peaking 136 on Billboard 200 Chart. I rather enjoyed this album and I got curious to sample their debut album which is also on YouTube. Are you ready for more TCV?

GREETINGS FROM IMRIE HOUSE (2005) song tracks: 1. Good Day 2. Just The Girl 3. Catch Your Wave 4. I’ll Take My Chances 5. Friday Night 6. Angel to You 7. Resign 8. Pop Princess 9. Time Machine 10. Lies 11. Say Goodbye

The Click Five drew listener comparison to that of The Dave Clark 5 and The Beatles with their clean cut appearance and moptop hair cuts. I think it’s cool! The last studio album they recorded was in 2010 which was released in November of that year exclusively to Asian countries. The following year in May, the album released to the UK and US which failed to chart. The YT channel I borrowed the above two playlists didn’t have the groups final album but I did find another YT user’s upload of TCV

TCV song tracks: 1. The Way It Goes 2. I Quit I Quit I Quit 3. Nobody’s Business 4. Love Still Goes On 5. Don’t Let Me Go 6. Fever For Shakin’ 7. Way Back To You 8. he World Comes Crawling 9. Good As Gold 10. Be In Love 11. Black Boots 12. Just Like My Heart Fall 13. Follow Your Heartbeat 14. Wild Ways 15. Baby Don’t Board That Plane

The band broke up in 2013. Kyle Patrick – lead vocals, rhythm guitar (2007-2013), Joe Guese – lead guitar & backing vocals (2004-2013), Ben Roman – synthesizers & backing vocals (2004-2013), Ethan Mentzer – bass & backing vocals (2004-2013), and Joey Zehr – drums (2004-2013) made the final line up of TCV. They parted company to focus on their own undertakings.

⭐️April’s honorary co-hostess!⭐️

I hope you enjoyed the music. Now, it’s time for you to step onto the dance floor, just link up your post that contains a song or two, and hop over to any and all of the other party-goers to boogie with them.

In case you missed the announcement Marie, the brain child, felt the need to step down to tend to her health needs and has asked that I take over for her. You will always have a place when you’re ready to come back, my friend!

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

  1. MOL on that picture, little girls need little chairs…well, I think it would fit me too…MOL… That was a nice introduction to a new band, CK, even if they’re not together anymore. I listened to all the songs, and Granny and I have already found three favourites, they are Empty, Say Goodbye and Good as Gold. That were the heartcatchers for us😺Pawkisses for a Relaxed Day🐾😽💞

Ps We also want to wish Mary all the best. Will you tell her that we’re thinking of her and purraying for her🙏 TY🐾😽💞

  2. Thank you for introducing The Click Five, Cathy! I enjoyed listening to them and I love the meme containing Three Life Rules. Have a great week ahead!

  3. My first impression of the album cover was throwback to British Invasion bands of the 60’s. It will take some time to get through all of their music, but I like what I am hearing. Nicely played. Have a blessed week.

  4. I like the sound of this band, Very clean and crisp sound to their music. I don’t hear much similarity to sixties bands, but they have a great sound.

  5. Thanks for hosting Cathy and Happy Palm Sunday to you! I don’t recognize the name Click Five – curious to see if I recognize any of their songs!

  6. The three life rules are good ones. Click Five is new to me. I think they were after their time – by the 21st century people weren’t eager for that type of music. Too bad. I sampled songs from all three albums and they are good easy listening/upbeat songs.

  7. Awww on that cute girl sitting on that very tiny chair. So adorable.

I’ve not heard of Click Five until today.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend.

Awww… that little girl looks cute seated on her tiny chair reading the funny papers!

i enjoyed meeting and listening to The Click Five. When I saw their name printed in big block letters on their 2007 album cover, it struck me how much it looks like the font used on records released by the British beat band The Dave Clark Five. I found supportive evidence on Wiki in the following: “The band was initially known for its power pop songs and for its Mod-based public image involving sharp-looking suits and ties coupled with moptop haircuts, which is deliberately reminiscent of The Beatles or The Dave Clark Five” These Beantown boys put down a great sound. I read that they were active from 2004 to 2013 and performed power pop, pop punk and teen pop. The song and video about the high maintenance girlfriend named “Jenny” is a hoot. “Happy Birtday” is a winner of a song. I can imagine “Happy Birthday” and other Click Five songs being used in the soundtrack of a romcom date movie. “Addicted To Me” is another great song. On that one, the style and sound of The Click Five reminds me of another popular Boston-based rock band, Ric Ocasek and The Cars. As you know, I usually prefer up tempo songs, and Click Five’s “When I’m Gone” is catchy and enjoyable. It even turns heavy with some aggressive guitar work in the middle, a big plus in my book. “Headlight Disco” is a cute song about a guy making moves on his girl in the car at night, reminiscent of Meat Loaf. The arrangement on “All I Need Is You” is another flashback to the sound of The Cars. The vocal harmony is ear-pleasing. I love it.

Click Five’s first album, Imre House, a reference to the house on a Boston street where the guys lived, yielded their two biggest hits “Just the Girl” and “Catch Your Wave.” The mewsic video for the latter, showing a large group of fangirls chasing the band members down the street, is reminiscent of The Beatles. “Friday Night” is another cool song.

I wrote this comment bit by bit as I listened to the songs, soI am just now coming to your text explaining The Click Five’s comparison to the The DC 5 and The Beatles. Like you, I think the idea was cool, but it didn’t go over as well with record buyers as predicted. In my opinion, their sophomore album, the first one you posted, is the better one, with the guys sounding more like The Cars.

On their 2010 TCV album, The Click Five delighted me with “Quit,” which again brings back the sound of one of my favorite bands The Cars. “Way Back To You” offers more of that classic Cars sound.

To sum it up, I think The Click Five sounded best on that Modern Minds album. It deserved to sell better and chart higher than #136. I see three reasons why the band was not as successful as expected.

    1) Their lack of career success might be attributed to their rather nondescript band name.
    2) Their attempt to pay homage to the early Beatles and DC5 did not interest modern audiences.
    3) Their sound and image did not evolve. The songs are repetitive. If I had been their manager, I would have advised them to drop the clean cut look and adopt a harder and heavier image and style.

I appreciate the meme containing the Three Life Rules. So true! Thinking of friend Marie and hoping she will soon feel well enough to jump back into the hop game.

I really enjoyed these guys, The Click Five. Thanks a lot, dear friend Cathy. I’ll see you tamale on I-Day Monday!
