The Best of the Bee Gees

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

This week’s theme is whatever music moves you which is a great opportunity to continue with the process of absorbing posts previously published on a now private WP blog I created here on CAAC. I will eventually permanently delete that site to minimize confusion.

This is a music link up.  Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music”.

4M co-hostess are featured in my right side bar underneath the banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you (your choice)! To access the party, add your music post below, and visit others on the dance floor. Let the party begin!

The songs I remember most by the Bee Gees came out of the mid 70s through the early 80s and like so many groups unless a song charted big then it either never reached my ears or I simply don’t remember it.  Deviating from the original publication, I’m supplementing this post with an additional music with the Bee Gees Still Waters playlist. Enjoy! 😉

For anyone interested, earlier this morning I released the tally from last week’s Battle of the Bands.

Marie’s health isn’t good at the moment.  I will continue to keep the party running until she’s feels more up to the task.  For the time being, I’m declaring 2024 the year of “Whatever Music Moves You”, except for music prompts posted.  The invitation to submit ideas stands open and the 4M theme calendar is fairly open.  You can submit your weekly themes to me via email. I will list the ideas at the first available date unless you tell me different on my 2024 4M Theme page (see top menu). Each submission will receive proper credit and you’re under no monthly co-hosting obligation unless you request the job. 😘

This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietasticweek!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. The Bee Gees are unforgettable, CK. We love their mewsic. Granny always had a crush on Robin, so the love started when she was just a little girl, also for their mewsic. We think it’s very deserved that Barry got a place at the Kennedy Center😻Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞

  2. I have all of the Bee Gees albums, including a couple from the early 60s, before they were famous! Thanks for sharing their older stuff, which, IMO, is their best material. I was happy to learn that Barry Gibb was honoured by the Kennedy Center recently. Too bad they couldn’t have done that when his brothers were still alive. Best wishes to Marie for better health!

    1. Debbie,

The older Bee Gees music is a nice change from their Disco era but that’s what I grew up listening to and loved. The vintage tunes are quite lovely to listen to and puts me in an easy state of mind. Sadly, artists often don’t receive the credit deserved while alive. It takes decades, even death before someone says, “WOW, they were really good!” before an honor is given. Better late than never, I suppose. The growing old thing is a constant reminder that we all have expiration dates. Let’s make the most of the years we have, shall we?

  3. I’ve been a fan of the Bee Gees ever since I heard “New York Mining Disaster 1941” for the first time. I have to admit I’m a bit partial to their disco era but actually, some of my favorites include “New York Mining Disaster 1941”, “Holiday”, “Every Christian Lionhearted Man Will Show You” (so weird, but in a good way) and “Only a Woman”. It’s so tragic that only Barry is still with us. Alana ramblinwitham

  4. I always liked the BeeGee’s, especially songs from Saturday Night Fever. XO

  5. Anything Bee Gees is considered “best of” in my book! As wonderful as their disco era stuff is, my favorites are probably their earlier stuff. Such incredible harmonies! I did not see or know that Barry just got honored until I saw everyone’s comments. Will have to look that up!

Please let Marie know I am praying for her and thank you for hosting – Happy New Year to you, dear Cathy! 🙂

  6. I actually really like the early Bee Gees before the Disco takeover. Barry Gib just received the Kennedy Center Honours.

    1. Birgit,

It looks like I timed this post perfectly. I had no idea that Barry Gib received the Kennedy Center Honors recently. I liked the Bee Gees’ Disco era. They are the only male vocalists that I can tolerate singing in falsetto. I do like their older stuff. It’s nice listening to those tunes when one pops up. They almost sound like a different band.

    1. Robin,

I had no clue of Barry’s honors at the Kennedy Center. It would’ve been neat if you had and would’ve totally blown me away not knowing before the reason why we matched up. lol

  7. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to Marie. I remember watching the Bee Gees on various shows as a youngster. I liked them then and still like them now.

  8. Love that bee and love the Bee Gee’s. I danced to their music for years.

Prayers for Marie. I love it that I can post whatever music I want. I find it difficult sometimes to follow the prompts.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I’m glad to get your input with my decision to run with “whatever music moves you”. Themes can be a challenge but some like it or at least a direction to go. I’m happy either way. If there’s music then you’ll find me tapping my toes or dancing to the beat. Thanks for visiting, darling!

  9. It is such a shame they waited until there was only one BeGee left before the Kennedy Center honored them. Some of their songs are timeless. I can honestly say, “I never owned a Begees album” but I appreciated their talent. Have a blessed week.

    1. It seems we have the “Stayin’ Alive” soundtrack and it almost seems like we actually have one of their CDs but I can’t swear to it. I’m too pooped to did around in our collection. I really need to create a CD list just so we know what we have. Thanks for joining the party, my friend!
