Taking a brief break

Last month’s A to Z blogfest was very fun but I felt pushed the entire time not because of the challenge, although it did contribute somewhat,  but mainly with all the house hunting and other things I had on my plate. I really thought I’d stick to my plans to participate in Battle of the Bands (BoTB) this month but honestly, I feel it’s important to step away from things just a wee bit especially since today, DH is having dental surgery again and can’t be here anyhow.  The timing just isn’t the best right now.

Allow me to make my apologies to my fellow BoTBers and to all you expecting another showdown but there are plenty going on today. Hop over to Stephen’s place for a list of battles going on. I plan to join the mid-month battle so mark your calendar. 😉

Before I head off to kick my feet up or whatever qualifies as ‘relaxing’, let me tell ya about DH’s classmate Clinton Collins. If you’ve been a long-time reader of mine then you might recognize the name and if not that’s okay. I mentioned him briefly in 2014.  Anyhow, Clinton released a new studio album last month, Even On Your Darkest Days, (available on iTunes & various online sources) and we’re all so very proud of the boy.  I hope you’ll spare a moment to listen to the song track off this album, “When I Left Virginia”.

I know what you’re thinking. Don’t let Clinton’s song title fool ya.  We all grew up in southern WV.  I really didn’t know him other than by name but that doesn’t change the fact that I feel a kinship with my fellow Mountaineer and small-town neighbor (sorta).

Blogging life resumes to normal…kinda…with Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sundays.  You’re invited to the best party in Blogosphere and to hit the dance floor with my 4M co-hosts along with our newest honorary co-host, Michele from Angel’s Bark.  Have a boogietastic day!

Mews ⚡️Flash⚡️… Not so Wordless Wednesday kicks off after a month-long hiatus this time next week.

  1. Thanks for introducing me to this song! I’ve been reading you for a while, but don’t remember having heard his name before, so maybe that mention was before my time. He has a great voice, though, and I love the sound! I keep trying so hard to keep my blog going, but have so much trouble with time, inspiration, and then getting quality content out. Story of my life since about 2013!

Hope your DH has a speedy recovery from the dental surgery!

  2. Take a deep breath, stay calm, and relax. The world will not come to an end if you take a break. Everyone will still be here when you return. I take a week or two off every January after my annual Christmas Music Marathon. Often the pressure we feel is self inflicted, so a break from the action is a good thing.
I like cut from Clinton Collins, by the way. Have a blessed break.

  3. Hi Cathy! It’s great that you have had fun with atoz, I’ll promise to catch up visiting your posts, meanwhile, enjoy your well deserved break! 😃
    See you soon.

  4. Girlfriend, with everything you have going on now you surely need a break. Is there anything I can do for you? If there is feel free to let me know and I shall gladly help out. I must say you have the cutest pictures ever! Where do you find them all? That kitty video is just too too cute!!! Well, I truly hope the hubby doesn’t have a hard time of it at the dentist and hope he heals really fast. I HATE THE DENTIST and I hate his bill even more!!! LOL Anyways oh by the way it’s my cousin who got breast cancer not my aunt. I’m older that her by a few years. Anyway, I believe I told you how I’m being scammed & they started again and tried to steal my check again. Well, Social Security & I caught them and they didn’t get my check… well we didn’t catch them per say, but they didn’t get my check either. Calling Social Security now just thought I’d say Good Morning and you have a good rest now.. hey do you want to take a break from 4M too??? just let me know… it could be the same month and you’d really catch a break. You just let me know baby girl and I’ll make it happen. Who luvs ya baby girl? How’s the house hunting coming along? Now take your time don’t take the first one that comes along that you like keep looking cuz the next one will be even better you’ll see. You & hubbs & family are always in my prayers! BIG OL’ HUGS!!!!!

  5. Very deserved break after all that blogging, CK. Have a relaxed break my furriends and here comes some Healing Pawkisses for the dental surgury for the DH. Hope all went well! Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead🐾😽💞

    1. Mimi,

I’m planning on it. Let’s see if I actually get to. 🙂 DH dental surgery went well. He has to take another round of antibiotics due to the infection caused by the cracked root. Other than that, he’s doing good. We both, especially him, can’t wait to get this all done. Dental issues not only is expensive but time-consuming! Thanks for dropping by. 😉

    1. Thanks, Ellen! April was super busy for us both, wasn’t it? 🙂 I need to especially take it easy because yesterday I hurt my back somehow and it’s so tender and I have a monster size headache.

  6. You have been very busy and it is stressful. I hope all goes well at the dentist. Moving is never fun but I send you my best wishes. I am not a country person but this is a nice song and so nice that you know him. Now off to read the rest of your posts

    1. Birgit,

DH’s dental surgery went well. Now for the zillion follow-ups. 🙂 Moving isn’t fun but once we find a place and get settled then it’ll be worth the headache.

  7. Taking a break is always helpful but especially after a zany month like April. See you when you get back.

    1. Janet,

I agree after a busy, challenging month a break is good for anyone of us crazies for getting involved with the A2Z blogfest to start with but like so many others I’m addicted to the annual event. 🙂

    1. Brian,

Thanks for understanding. Everything went well with DH’s dental surgery. We thought he might have to take today off after last time’s experience but things went smoother and made it into work. Now, to play a little catch up this morning. 😉

  8. Take care of your hubby. He needs you today. You’ve worked very hard with the A2Z Challenge. I’ve so enjoyed your sketches all last month.

Have a fabulous day. Hug and love. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I’m doing my best to take care of DH. He went to the office this morning to only discover that he’s in worse shape than he thought. Poor baby! His surgery went well, though. I think the pain med plus little to eat are the culprits to him not feeling well. Hopefully after tonight getting a bit more into his tummy will make all the difference in the world. 🙂

  9. I hope that DH’s dental surgery goes smooth and there is no complications! Take it easy and rest well!

    1. Thanks Amy, I plan to get some catching up and resting over the next few days…maybe, I’m sure I’ll be busy doing post scheduling. I just can’t seem to help myself and find it truly difficult to step away completely from Blogosphere.

  10. Hi, Cathy!

I will be thinking about DH today and hoping his dental surgery goes smoothly. I didn’t know you in 2014 and therefore was not aware that DH has a classmate who is a singer and recording artist. I enjoyed Clinton Collins’ down home vocals on “When I Left Virginia.” Did you know that Mrs. Shady lived in West Virginia? She and her family lived on the tip of the state’s Eastern Panhandle region in the lower Shenandoah Valley, a town called Marlowe near Martinsburg.

I wish you a restful Almost Wordless Wednesday and blessings from A to Z in the month of May, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

I believe I recall you mentioning Mrs. Shady living in WV before but forgot. She’s from a very beautiful part of the state. The southern portion of the state where we grew up is very poor and rural. Coal Mining was the biggest industry and employer when we were young. That changed in the late 70s and early 80s, though. The coal industry is making a comeback but I wonder if it’ll ever be as big as it used to be. There’s not a lot for folks in the way of work in the area. You’re either a coal miner, school teacher, or work in retail. Thanks for visiting and for the good wishes for DH. He’s doing well after his procedure.
