Purrrs & hisses, Kittens & Dawgs! Last month on our way home from Helen, Georgia we saw something that caught our attention that you just don’t see every day.
I guess this is a missile from a submarine but there wasn’t any information posted nearby so I’m clueless. There were a few other interesting relics on site.
I’m not sure where the road will lead this year photographically speaking. I know last year I didn’t do much. Perhaps, I need to make a new year’s resolution to make a point to capture the fun, the interesting, or weird things digitally instead of focusing only on what’s pretty.
…new year’s resolution to make a point to capture the fun, the interesting, or weird things digitally…
There you have it my first 2019 commitment. 😉

What can I say 2018 went ZING and before I knew what happened another year was all ZIPPED up. Here it is a brand new year once again!
Looking back on things, it felt like I did a lot of ZIG-ZAGGING all year but things really began to cook starting early November with the purchase of two major appliances within two weeks of each other. By the end of the month only days after Thanksgiving, we had to buy a new car when our 2003 Camry seemed ZAPPED of life.
The problem with the old gal was fixable but an expensive one but our Toyota mechanic said they had a high success rate. This solved the need for a second working vehicle to serve as a primary commute for DH to and from work so to not wear out our brand new ride. This filled our hearts with ZEAL!
Toyota was booked for the holiday season. Our expected date to get the ’03 back was the first of the new year. Fortunately for us, some auto jobs got canceled, pushing us up in the queue and ZOOM got her back the day before my birthday.
All went well on the day of pickup. I made it all the way home without incident until I tried to pull the car through a narrow space to park her. Let’s just say what happened next remains a mystery to me. ZOMG!!! I nearly pulled the driver’s door off the hinge, scrapping and denting the side of the car from the gas tank door all the way forward. That’s bad enough in itself but somehow in the chaos, don’t ask me how because I don’t remember, my leg was outside the vehicle and got lodged between the cars. The ’03 I was driving and our even older car (1987) parked in our driveway. Trying to not panic, I thought about Jesus, my strength, my guide, my ZEN! I put the car in drive to free my leg – ZING!
Even I’m not so ZANY that I can blame the whole incident on that but perhaps I can pin it all on my over-ZEALOUS ambition to do the job alone when I should’ve used discretion to wait. In truth had I waited 30 minutes then DH could’ve helped, saving me the embarrassment, the injury, and us the additional car expense. I should’ve listened to the soft voice in my head telling me to wait and the did ZILCH until DH arrived. A trip to the urgent care facility near the house revealed no broken bones. I had a horribly nasty double knotty bruised leg (both sides) from my knee to my ankle and instructed to icy frequently with it elevated often for a week.
Once again, we have the car towed and two repair estimates later reveal the awful damage done. The second one was nearly half the cost of the first place. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to figure out which one we went with but to make a long story short and to be fair about it Joe Neubert Collison (thank you guys for your integrity) can’t do partial work and recommended All Colors Body Shop. They did a ZINGER of a job — well done!
The old gal is back in our care once again. Thanks to DH’s guidance I managed to safely get her safely through the tight spot and parked but brother, oh brother it sure would be nice if our bank account was prefixed before the decimal a ZILLION more ZEROS! That sounds a little greedy but I’m feeling needy. Maybe, I should start a GoFundMe page! 😜
Don’t worry, we’ll survive. The ZEST for life is what keeps us going, getting us through the thick and thin! 😉
A side note…. this is one of those moments I failed to capture digitally the interesting because it would’ve been so pAwesome to have taken before and after shots of the old gal. Unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling up to par the next day with an achy leg I barely could walk on and that’s when we had the car towed.
