What new things are you learning? For the past couple of weeks, I’ve taught myself a little HTML on a need-to-know basis. There are so many resources available online. All you have to do is Google “HTML code” and BAM! You’ll get hits galore. You can narrow your search with specifics like HTML code for underlining text or font color or alignment. It’s just way cool what you can find with a few clicks of the mouse.
I changed my blog header last week, maybe you noticed. Don’t worry, if you didn’t or if you’re a first time visitor don’t think anything of it. I used the free download version of Xheader to create it. This is a really neat user-friendly graphics tool. I tried using my photo editing programs but bombed. Using PhotoShop or PaintShop is going to take a little more time to figure out. Time is something I just don’t have a lot of lately. If you’re looking to make your own header or buttons, then you may want to give this little program a try, just click here!
It’s time to rock, click, and roll. Let’s hop over to Joyce’s for a little HodgePodge Wednesdays fun!
1. What’s something you miss about the 1980s? If you’re too young to miss the 80’s how about the ’90s?
The 1982 World’s Fair is the first thing which pops in my mind. That was such an awesome affair right here in small town USA. Knoxville was host to the world from May – October bringing in 11M+ visitors. It was such an exciting time!
2. Do you have a library card? If so, how often do you visit?
Aaaah, yeah somewhere. Sadly, I’ve lost my way in the literary world with, except for my magazine subscriptions, but even this is slowly being replaced. Most of my reading time is on the net – research, blogs, online news, or email. On a rare occasion, I want to read a novel, then I find it more convenient to buy or download free books in e-format to my computer or iPhone. I’m just morphing with the times.
3. What’s the secret to success?
Ultimately seeking God for direction and then following His call for one’s life is the best-kept secret. We’re such a “Me-Me” society. What do I want? How do I do this? Many times, we lose sight of who we need to first consult on matters.
4. This is National Backyard Games week…what’s your favorite backyard game?
My favorite lawn activity has to be croquet. Our yard isn’t big enough for this, but over the years we’ve enjoyed playing croquet with DH’s parents. They have a wonderful place for this and we’ve spent many hours having great fun! DH’s dad remains champ of the sport beating all of us kids without fail every time!
5. If I dropped by today what would I find on your coffee table?
I’d rather you not “drop by” without warning that is. lol My coffee table is the last thing I’m worried about.
6. Do you own a bicycle? When was the last time you rode a bicycle? Is that something you enjoy?
Yes, I have a Schwinn road bike. Our favorite spot for bike rides is in the Smoky Mountains along the 11-mile loop road of Cades Cove. It’s an old rural backwoods community with abandoned cabins, churches, graveyards, lush open fields, and wild animals (if we’re lucky enough to spot any). We haven’t been bicycling for a long time, though. The biggest problem is loading them on our rooftop rank. This is real murder! It should be easier now with two of our three children moved out. Perhaps we’ll get into the groove again soon.
7. What’s your favorite cheese?
The kind you eat. =D I’m teasing. Cheddar cheeses…sharp cheddar cheese in my favorite pick. It’s also the most versatile cheese. It’s great with crackers, bread or thrown in omelets. Mmmm, I want cheese.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
- Season of Celebrity Apprentice ended Sunday
- Celebrity crop this season…not the best all around. Lisa Lampanelli and Aubrey O’Day are two of the most unsophisticated woman ever in CA, in my opinion
- Clay Aikens and Arsenio Hall the two CA finalist
- Clay’s final project presentation was the best and won the most for his charity.
- Arsenio Hall wins Celebrity Apprentice
- Arsenio was our favorite pick
- DWTS finale aired last night.
- This season has had the most talented and well-liked stars ever
- We rooted for Katherine Jenkins (Opera Star) & Mark Ballas
- We liked ALL three finalists a lot
- Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd take the Mirror Ball trophy in Season 14 of DWTS
- Happy for Donald Driver’s victory
- Tonight AI crowns a new winner. We voted for sweet, little powerhouse – Jessica Sanchez
- Tomorrow, we’ll be sad our favorite TV programs are done for this season 🙁

Let’s grab a cup and head over to Patrice for a little Chit Chat on the Farmhouse Porch.
- What are you doing for Memorial Weekend? This weekend is our DS’s home school high school ceremony. Friday and Saturday evening will be dedicated to this, then Sunday afternoon he’ll be attending a graduation party. I reckon Monday’s plans are to recoup. I think we’re going to be wiped out come Sunday night and we will sleep very late Monday morning. lol
- What’s the last old movie you saw? The Front Page with Jack Lemmon & Walter Matthau – very good movie!
- What color are the walls in your living room? Beige.
- What’s your favorite food to cook on the grill? Hamburgers.
- What’s your favorite animal? A HORSE! Is Wendell around? Okay, good! I love cats! But, I’m not sure why. They are so such finicky creatures. I think overall, I’d have to say dogs – man’s best friend, right? One day, I hope to have both dogs & cats. I want a couple of large dogs as our companions and protectors, and several kitties to keep the unwanted guest from entering our house. Of course, none of this will happen until we can find a place with some land where these critters can roam freely.

What is your favorite song by the Bee Gees? Did you live the 70s & 80s or is this period before your time and it’s your oldies, but goodies era?
