It’s hard to believe it’s been almost five years ago in a random spat I mentioned the coming of cable channels via streaming services. I think at the time it was just beginning to edge its way onto the market.
I always wanted cable so DH can enjoy football or NASCAR but the expense really ouches! Yes, we have cable but not in the sense you might think. We have high speed internet and basic cable but not the cable box. We can view some cable channels if they have an app available for Roku or AppleTV offering some viewing flexibility. That’s where SlingTV comes into the picture.
Last October while we were on vacation DH threw this out on the table as a possibility. After we reviewed the packages available, we decided to subscribe to their service. We also consider YouTube TV but in the end SlingTV won out because of the sport channels availability DH wanted.
It’s been a lot of fun for DH to relax on the weekend watching a good game or car race but what’s really neat is that you can record live programs super easy. I mean SUPER easy! When I see something scheduled to air, all I do is click the ‘Record’ button and that’s that. I just wait for it to show up in our Recorded program section. The Orange & Blue combo package we have includes 50hours of cloud storage for our recordings and what’s really neat is we can record multiple recordings at once.
That being said, I really didn’t begin to take advantage of the record feature until the holiday season. I recorded some Christmas movies off Hallmark but since the last week of December I found three movies of interest that I set to record for our New Year’s Eve movie marathon: John Wick 2, The Kingsman: The Secret Service, and The Kingsman: Golden Circle.
In addition to live TV programs, SlingTV offers on demand content which can can be simply added to our favorites to view at our convenience. I found a movie we’ve been waiting to see on our other streaming services on demand, The Mummy with Tom Cruise and I saved it which made me giddy.
We watched all of these movies with the exception of the second Kingsman’s flick. We really liked them, too. I don’t believe these action packed, sometimes humorous movies will disappoint you and highly recommend them for a fun night of entertainment.
Have you thought about cutting the cord so-to-speak to your cable service?
That’s it for now, I’ll leave you with some soothing jazz mewsic to enjoy with your morning coffee.
I’ll take the lead by pouring myself another cup before I head off to visit a few of my Tuesday friends – Random Tuesday Thoughts with Stacy, Tuesday Chatter hosted by Eugenia, and Happy Tuesday with Sandee. I’ll be back tomorrow for Wild Wednesdays where just about anything goes and I hope you’ll join me!
