What? I know what you’re thinking, there is no such word as sunspiration. As it turns out others across the web are using this term (sunshine + inspiration).
I’m thinking okay, I’m not all that original…well, maybe a little. I am joining Sunday and inspiration to form my version of “sunspiration” for my new weekly post idea.
With that, let me say…”Welcome to my first addition of Sunspiration!”
A new year, a new beginning. For many of us, this is the way we envision the start of a calendar year. This is why we jot down our resolutions or better still our hopes, our plans, or our goals. A few will be successful in achieving all of his/her goals, some will strike off a handful of his/her aspirations, and others may be unable to reach any of his/her dreams.
I’m one of those in the “some” category, but I’m also in the “others” category, too. The thing is, I use to let this bother me a lot. Now, I just continue last year’s unobtainable goals into the new year with the hope I of reaching them.
Last year’s biggest goal was to become debt-free. We managed to do this freeing ourselves of normal financial obligations (mortgage & credit cards). This has been a very liberating, but for how long?
My goal for 2013 is to find our “dream house”. This will throw us out of our debt-free status unless we can win the lottery or Publisher’s Clearing House sweeps and I for one don’t see that happening. Hopefully, the mistakes which kept us crippled in the past will be water under a bridge and our lessons learned to help us govern the way we handle things in future debt management.
With goal setting, I often think of Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
While God knows everything about my life (and yours) it pays for me (and you) to be responsible for doing what I (you) can do. That being said, I think this article Five Golden Rules for Successful Goal Setting can be helpful in motivating me (you) in the right direction.
How do you feel about making goals?
Share with one goal(s) you achieved, last year or recent past it doesn’t matter because sharing your accomplishments are a good way to sunspire someone.
Next week’s Sunspiration topic will be “Ways to Inspire Others”. I hope you’ll decide to stop by!
