July artwork for TADwRain

Don’t be fooled, I’m still taking a recess from the Blogosphere playground for the most part.  Each day, I try to work on my A2Z Little Mermaid ‘in living color’ series or roughout ideas for Rain’s intriguing prompts. Some stump me, so I’m thankful she provides examples to stretch my imagination in the general direction.

Over the past couple of weeks, I illustrated some artwork using the TADwR weekly suggestions but I have been too busy to give the themes the kind of attention I want.  I keep things easy going, whipping out my iPad when time permits because even art shouldn’t be forced or it won’t be fun.

Not wishing to sit on my contributions until my September return, I felt it might work out fine to do a little show and tell today and if everything falls into place, then next month about this time I’ll do another artsy share with you with a link back to Rain’s original weekly art features.

July 4th ‘Flora’.

My first thought about ‘Flora’ was to draw something flowery, which I did with the yard in full bloom but I had not thought about trees being part of that theme, so I was very glad Rain oriented my thought pattern to create this last illustration. It might be my favorite of the two. What do you think, do you like one better than the other?

July 11th ‘Camping/Campfire’ and  18th ‘Yellow & Orange’.

Looking over this piece after completion it dawned on me that my image evolved in a totally unplanned manner to contain not only the themes listed but this week’s theme 25th ‘XRay/Negative Image.  Don’t you just love little happy accidents like that? 😉

I Googled Rain’s theme for this week getting results for ‘negative space’ when I came up with sketches of chairs, ladders, etc which sparked my imagination to draw a single chair but being me I felt it needed something more so I added a cat which looked like he was ready to pounce on something, so I put in another element, a little mouse.

Over the weekend, DH and I watched some old clips from Apollo’s successful landing and Neil Armstrong’s historic first step on the moon.  Those vintage videos inspired me to add one more illustration because it seemed a purrfect fit for Rain’s prompt.

All of my digital images, I used the apps painting and airbrush tools to give that painting-like essence which I really like.  One day, I’ll graduate to old-school medium but for now, I can experiment and enjoy the process without further expense or mess.

I wanted to lay down more illustrations but as I mentioned I have many things taking up my brain energy and time.  I’m really quite ashamed considering what others accomplish with their days and yet they find time to draw.  Perhaps, someday I’ll find a better rhythm for a more balanced life but don’t hold your breath. I don’t want any of you passing out on me. 😉

Thanks for stopping in with your coffee for a peek at my masterpiece and …oh yeah for not spilling it on my artwork lol   It’s been a super pleasure to share my sprinkle of talent I have with you this morning. 😘 If you like to see what others are bringing to the art play date, then I invite you to high tail it over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry!

On the 4M dance floor this week, I featured Laine Hardy and it’s never too late to boogie with me,  but if you’d like to get to know a little about the newest AI, listen to Laine’s Border Crossings’ interview.

That’s it for this now but please don’t forget to hit the dance floor with your choice song picks on Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!
