Welcome, Kittens & Dawgs! I mentioned last week I’m not a big fan of winter and unless the sun is shining to make the day feel more comfortable you won’t find me outdoors. Naturally, the holidays and DH’s work schedule prevented us from enjoying some day trips which means missed photo-ops. That’s okay because I have plenty of archived photos that didn’t make the cut to fool with in one of my photo-editing programs.
In 2011 we ventured to historic Rugby, Tennessee. It’s a living Victorian community originally founded by the British in the late 1800s. I thought I shared photos from our trip but I can’t seem to find them on my site. I think I understand why. This picture didn’t turn out very well. It was blurry but I kept it as memory shot (below).
This is a pretty little church. With it being the dead of winter, I thought why not attempt to transform the original spring scene to a snowy one. The first thing I did was crop and convert the image to B&W. The final step was I added a layer using the above free texture grab borrowed from Insight Designs, here. These changes really gave my image a wintry sense. I went a step further with this second creation.
I adjusted the blues and reds in the photo. It gives the image an overall colder effect. It’s a bit surreal but then again it’s meant to be a fantasy creation. What do you think?
Come back for another peek through my lens with my newest edition of Skywatch Friday and get in on the Friday social media action. Have a fototastic day.
