Christmas greetings! For the month of December, I plan to share a Christmas song each day with the hope of adding a little extra cheer to your holiday. Part of my challenge in this series is to bring to you a new-to-me song or artist discoveries. There’s no telling what song pick I’ll go with but you’ll find artists from all genres celebrating in song this almost magical, holy season.
Today’s featured artist’s golden period in the music industry was in the early 80s with five top 10 rock hits who I had all but forgotten until I began delving into song possibilities for this month and that’s when I came up with Billy Squier’s Christmas Is The Time To Say, “I Love You”.
The biggest part of my life I’ve reserved more traditional Christmas music to listen to during the holidays which accounts for most of the reasons why these sorts of newbies I either missed or toned out altogether. The song title itself makes me think it belongs in a jewelry store promo, don’t you think?
Don’t even worry with leaving a comment. This is for your enjoyment. There’s no worries or fuss or strings attached. Simply a moment for you to unwind and refresh your mind and body. 😉
I managed to remember to visit Anne to get this week’s Tuesday4 questions. Here are my responses.
1. Is there a hero or character on TV, in a book or a movie .. or even on all three, that you are especially like? I’m going with the first answer that point in my head, John McClan from the Die Hard movie series. What do you find attractive about them? I’ve always enjoyed the quiet, strong characters like John McClan who does what is needed to bring down the bad guy(s). That in itself makes the character attractive, he’s a manly man and one that a woman couldn’t beat up. A kind of fella if I were single, I’d have my eye on. All I can say is, I’m glad that I’m not single woman in my 20s today because it’s really hard to find men like this. Roles have almost reversed, girlie guy and boyish gals.
2. Was there a book that was better in movie form? How about a movie you thought didn’t live up to the book? This one doesn’t apply since I’m not a big reader so I can’t answer one way or the other but if a book sounds interesting I secretly hope it’s made into a movie.
3. When you choose a book, program or movie which subject it is most likely to be: science fiction, mystery, romance, comedy, documentary, etc.? Although we watch a lot of Sci-fi, generally, action/adventure flick appeal is my favorite genre but during the Christmas season I’m all about the romance. What draws you to a particular book or movie? I’m a visual person so the first thing to catch my eye is book/film artwork. If that grabs me then I’ll read the description.
4. How important is the title or picture on the cover of a book? I answered this with my previous response. How much importance do you place on a movie because of the actors who are in it? Having well known actors/actresses in any movie is a help. I would then hope that this meant the film will be good. I am definitely drawn to most movies because of who’s starring with the exception of romantic Christmas films. That’s not nearly as critical because what appeals to me most about those type of movies is the beautiful holiday decorations and the fact that you know there’s going to be a happy ending. I’m a sucker for these films this time of the year. Thankfully, DH enjoys them alongside me.
I haven’t forgotten folks about last week’s This Christmas BOTB Showdown. I surely failed to match these two artists. Megan Davies & Jaclyn stomped the boys Michael Lands in this battle big time (9 to 5). This is the breakdown on who voted for who in this round. *UPDATED VOTE COUNT*
Birgit, Lee, Diedre, Mary, Sandee, Brian Mimi, Marie, & Eugenia voted for the DAVIES sisters
Tom, Debbie, Stephen, Mike S, and Mike T sided with Michael Land
I appreciate everyone who took part in this battle showdown. I’m doing a second battle, the first in a very long time, on the 15th. Please, mark your calendar to join me for the fun. Let’s hear one more time from the winners, Megan Davies & Jaclyn Davies with an original song, Christmas With You.
I’ll be here with bells on tomorrow morning with another Christmas song waiting to start your day and please don’t let the hustle of the holiday weigh you down. The holiday festivities are beautiful and fun but the true reason warms the heart better than these earthly things. Take time to bask in God’s great love. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
