Horse Whipped NOT and Random Stuff

The last three weeks I’ve procrastinated terribly on my daily exercise regimen. In my defense, DS’s graduation consumed all of my free time. Maybe, I can just blame him. Frankly, I need to be horse whipped for my slackery. Is that even a word? According to the Urban Dictionary slackery is a word.

A spurned Scottish girl, the victim of a broken engagement by her Jersey boyfriend, set upon him with a horse whip after seeing him kiss another girl in the street. He had broken it off after she ordered the wedding dress, which made her feel “a great deal worse.”From the NYT Archive, circa 1887. Thanks to the tipster who brought it to our attention!

Unlike the lad in this article, I believe a horse whipping is too severe of a punishment for myself. I’m sure it’ll hurt enough when I step on the scales next, not to mention the grueling torment of blasting away the unwanted…eh em…weight. It’s back to the ole grindstone a.k.a exercise bike!

Speaking of riding my exercise bike, I decided to watch the old TV series Dark Shadows on Netflix while I melt those pounds away. Do you remember that old show? When  I was a kid I just loved it!

Barnabas Collins played by Jonathan Frid

Like all soap actors, the cast on Dark Shadows is no different – melodramatic. The difference in today’s soaps and this classic is, it is clean – no sex or real violence. Granted, I’ve only watched the first five episodes, but I seriously doubt the 1966 version will vere away from the family-friendly style. Things were a lot different in those years compared now.

Time Out for Mom is ranting about her own battles with the bulge. I so hear your pain, Les! At 50, mom of three, and countless abdominal surgeries I know all too well the struggle it is to getting the tum-tum in shape. I hate it that I can’t get it back to flat again. Hold on to this… it’s easy to do nothing, but in order for change to happen it requires you doing something and that’s the hardest first step! Quit isn’t in my vocabulary, ladies. I, like Les, am not throwing in the towel. I’m fighting my way back to sexy one mile at a time! Here’s a little motivation.

We watched a movie on Netflix over the weekend called,  Faces in the Crowd with Milla Jovovich. This horror-thriller centers around a woman who is the only survivor of a brutal attack of an infamous serial killer who develops a condition which impairs her ability to recognize faces known as “face-blindness”.  The story line intrigued me, but I had reservations.  I’m not a horror film fan. The only reason I gave it a shot was because it was a crime thriller. The movie kept me on the edge of my seat with suspense and I had no clue who the killer was up until the end. I give it 4 out of 5 stars!
