The Price Is Right – Day 26 G2KM Blog Challenge

Who likes TV game shows?  I do.  When I was a kid, I remember watching, Let’s Make A Deal, The Dating Game, The Newlywed Show, and The Price Is Right.  Today I occasionally watch Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy, but the best game show on remains one of my favorites from my childhood, The Price Is Right.

The Price Is Right has a long history in daytime TV game shows.  It debuted in 1956 with Bill Cullen as the first host of the show.  This was five years before I was born.  For much of the TV game shows running, I remember Bob Barker as the famous game show host. When Drew Carey took over in 2007, I was doubtful of his ability to carry or might I say carey the show.  Would he be able to fill Bob Barker’s shoes?  Drew’s easy-going, witty personality put the audience at ease.  The contestants who are lucky enough to make it on stage are clearly enthusiastic about meeting the host.  Drew is different from Bob, but different doesn’t mean bad, thankfully.  Drew Carey provided me wrong.  He continues to make The Price Is Right one of my favorite game shows. His  likable presence has been beneficial to the show’s survival after Bob Barker’s long reign.

We have such a great fondness for the show that we set our DVD recorder to catch the broadcast airing each day, then over the weekend we’ll watch a few of them.  There are few things on television which command our attention enough to make a special effort to capture it on video.  I often tell my DH, if we ever make it to Hollywood, then we HAVE to visit The Price Is Right studio.  If you’re a fan of the show, then who knows, maybe one, you’ll hear, “Cathy Kennedy, come on down!”
