Make me smile on Monday’s Music Moves Me

In 1972, I was in grammar school when this song came out. It was a hysterically funny hit for someone so young.

Today we are partying to “funny songs” thanks to Chronicles from the Man Cave.

I want to invite you to join XmasDolly, JAmericanSpiceStacy Uncorked, Just the stuff ya know, and little ole me on the best dance floor in Blogosphere right with Monday’s Music Moves Me!

In 1978, when Short People made its début it offended some because they thought Newman was making fun of short people. The interesting thing about Newman’s song is, he wasn’t poking fun at short people. Instead, his son was written in a figurative sense aiming at people who are short-tempered and small-minded.

My best high school buds and I didn’t get the entire meaning, but we thought it was a funny song and we were pretty sure Newman really liked short people despite other’s interruption. Our proof came from this verse in the song….

Short people are just the same
As you and I
(a fool such as i)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(it’s a wonderful world)

What kind of short people are you, short-tempered, small-minded, or just short like me? lol

I don’t know what made the next two songs particularly funny but they are classics and a bit goofy from my childhood. Do you remember them? If you’re old enough, you are probably shaking your head yes. 🙂

A few years ago, DS shared this YouTube video with me. I’m not a rap fan, but when I saw this I thought it was kinda clever, witty, and it made me smile.

It’s time to dance, so I’m gonna leave you with this really silly, funny tune.
