Random Tuesday Thoughts and More!

I like sharing stuff with my friends.  You are my friend, right?  I thought so.  Anyhow, I found this interesting post…5 Bad Blogger Habit You Need To Break.  After reading the list, I can honestly say I’ve been guilty of all five at one point or another.  The good news is, I’m trying to improve as time goes by.
Who’s still reeling after Blogger’s small hiccup last Thursday?  I’m upset, but not terribly so.  I guess that’s largely in part because I only did one single post.  Of course, that one single post consisted of three memes I participate in.  These generate a lot of new and repeat traffic. for my blog, too.  I guess I have no one really to blame, but myself.  This past Saturday’s post I dedicated Ignorance? Blind-Trust? or Stupidity? to my rantings and I feel better now.

Despite my rantings and wondering how to prevent this situation from a future occurrence. I found some good information on protecting my blog data.  Check out…Be Prepared…Backup Your Blogger Blog.

Thursday’s catastrophe didn’t leave me paralyzed. I went on with life.  Friday, Robin (my husband, now you have a name to go with DH), my son – Austin, and I took a day trip to the mountains.  The Smoky’s are practically at our doorstep.  We can see the mountains from our living room window on a clear day.

Coming off I-40E headed toward the Smoky’s we met with road construction on Route 66, also known as Winfield Dunn Parkway. Traffic was severely congested.  I can only imagine what Memorial Day weekend will look like! No thank you, I’m going to stay as far away from the mountains as I possibly can.  I supposed the whole summer to expect choked up traffic.  I think a turtle can beat the cars to the Smoky’s entrance with what I see coming.

Anyhow, we drove through the small towns (Sevierville, Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg) in the foothills.  We normally take the By-Pass going around Gatlinburg, but they had it closed.  Thankfully, we went through Gatlinburg traffic wasn’t too horrible. It was a nice change. We learned later, the By-Pass probably was closed for the highway road crew to do work.  We spotted their large vehicles parked near the By-Pass.

We drove across the mountains in route to the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Cherokee, North Caroline was pretty desolate.  It usually is this time of the year.  However, this will change beginning Memorial weekend.  We  made our way to Water Rock Knob on the parkway where we meet an ambulance, emergency vehicle, and helicopter.  A motorcyclist wrecked on the parkway and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.  We were uncertain of how serious his injuries were.  One of the paramedics told my husband, “He was conscious. I hope he’ll be alright.” when he asked about the motorcyclist’s injuries. What does this mean?

Below are a few pictures I snapped in the mountains.  Warning…I’m not a very skilled photographer, but I sure do have fun.

Sunday afternoon, we had to run errands. Of all places, the grocery store. Well…the Super Wal-Mart.  It’s kind of crazy wild anytime we shop there, but strangely it wasn’t bad on Sunday.  Mother Nature went all freaky on us, though.  This Dogwood Winter weather is really for the birds. The wet, windy conditions made things a bit miserable. I was wearing long sleeves, too. I should have worn my fleece vest.  I’m ready for the sun to return.

Oh yeah, we did make one stop before going to Wal-Mart. We went to Verizon to look at the iPhone.  My Razr is fixing to die!  Anyhow, my darling hubs got me really excited about owning one, but we didn’t come away with one.  We decided to wait to see what develops with my phone or think about pushing it off until the new iPhone releases this summer.  And, then yesterday, my hubs asked if I wanted to get the iPhone.  He really loves spoiling me. This is just the way he is – so sweet and generous. So….I upgraded my phone yesterday and am now own my very first smartphone – a white iPhone. Yeah!!!!

That concludes my random thoughts. I hope you’ll decide to join Stacy Uncorked for Random Tuesday Thoughts.

Here are this week’s questions!

1. What type of diamond cut do you like?  Princess cut is my favorite. I love the simple elegance

2. When is your anniversary or if you’re not married, what month would you like to be married in? It’s June 9.

3. What was or would you like your wedding colors to be? Baby blue. It was the late 70s, what can I say.

4. How many bridesmaids did or would you have at your wedding? Honestly, too many. Okay…maybe not. I had five.  I wish we had a far simpler wedding, though.  If we could do it over, then it would only want one bridesmaid.

5. How long have you been married? This June will make 32 years.

Have a good day!
