Indian summer melts into autumn days with leaves falling down + #BoTB results

NEW Brushstroke creation using original photo shared here.

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! It’s fabulous to see you! Are you ready to groove to some mewsic?  Our theme this week is songs about “Autumn” but we’re not finicky if you have tunes to share then we’re ready to boogie with you and we invite you step on the dance floor with  XmasDolly, Stacy, Colette, and little ole me!

First, let me make a quick announcement. Last week, I asked y’all to vote for your favorite artist covering Marvin Gaye’s hit, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” in my #BoTB showdown between legendary R&B artist Ella Fitzgerald and country mewsic mogul, Ronnie Milsap. Both artists seemed like unlikely choices for this song but they were happy discoveries nonetheless doing a great job on each perspective cover. When I looked at each big name I thought I’d like Ella better than Ronnie and after I listened to them my opinion changed. I loved Milsap’s not-so-country rendition best stealing my vote!

The final tally…

Fitzgerald – 2
Milsap -6

This short Van Morrison playlist is made of new-to-me songs.

  1. Meet Me in the Indian Summer” describes our East Tennessee weather which certainly doesn’t feel a whole lot like fall. This song is from Morrison’s 2002  Down the Road album which positioned on the US album charts at #25 and in the UK #6, this single raked #112 in the UK.
  2. Golden Autumn Days” is from Morrison’s 1999 album, Back On Top. I often do not listen to the lyrics, mostly because my brain can’t follow along. I liked the melody but the song tells about a mugging on the street of Britain.
  3. When the Leaves Come Falling Down” is another track from Morrison’s Back On Top (UK “Album Chart” #11; USA “Billboard 200” #28) and is a beautiful ballad encompassing autumn’s beauty in the reflections of a love or at least this in my interruption of the song. What do you think?

This is a weekly hop for mewsic enthusiasts regardless if you follow our weekly theme or not if you have mewsic to share then we’re ready to dance with you. Otherwise, I ask that you do not link non-mewsic posts below to boost traffic to your site. You’re welcome to leave your URL in comments with a brief description inviting me to check it out. Thank you!

How’s autumn looking where you live, peak or past peak or way long gone?

Fill in the blank, my favorite fall activity is ____!

When was the last time you went on a hayride?

Do you like sitting around an open fire telling ghost stories, roasting marshmallows, or simply enjoy the company of friends/family over quiet conversation?

  What mewsic moves you today?

Before I scat, my blogger pal, McGuffy’s Reader has resurrected an old post series to prompt positive vibes for a sad world.

This is what Annie says about “Sparks”…

I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!

I certainly agree with her. We do need to be a light for others to see their way through the storm. In keeping with my mewsic theme, I decided to share with you some of my favorite photos of my beautiful East Tennessee landscape. Hopefully these images will make you feel good today, perhaps even inspired to get out to enjoy the world around you!
