Walk by faith

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! Chances are good I’ll be away from Blogosphere today. Last Friday, DH joined the ranks of the unemployed. Our hope for another extension failed to come through, but given his original termination date was at the end of March then we count ourselves blessed for this little reprieve.

Job loss is nothing new to us…either of us, but more so for DH. Every since the 1985 RIF (reduction in force) at TVA, we’ve been dished the painful pink slip on several occasions. It’s never easy or fun, but we learn how to deal with each cut and trust God to tie us over until a new opportunity opens. My trust rests in Him.

The upside at this point in our lives is we are emotionally and financially better equipped. I have discovered maturing has its perks in the way I see things given to us ~ good or bad. Monetarily speaking, we are in a better place with no mortgage or credit card balance. These things strangled us in the earlier years. Of course, we have the usual obligations: utilities, groceries, etc. I think (I’m not sure 100%) with unemployment benefits (assuming things don’t go wrong…it’s a government program after all), we can manage these bills for a short time.

Electrical engineering jobs are tight in Knoxville. I’m not sure what this means now. Will DH find work locally or will he have to commute? Is a move in our future? What is God’s plan for us at this point? Only time will tell the tale and all I can do is walk by faith.

NOTE: Kindly keep us in your thoughts & prayers. Please, don’t worry, if I’m absent from blogging for a bit. We plan to take care of some chores we haven’t had time for in a while, while enjoying a little R&R in-between the job hunting. Thanks for understanding! 😉
