How is your Christmas season progressing? This is a happy time for me and I try to enjoy it every bit that I can. Grant it, it can be difficult at times with everything that has my attention divided. But, I am learning with each year to just go with the flow and ban all stress from the holiday festivities at my house.
It’s Monday, so you know I’ve danced up a storm with all of my Monday’s Music Moves Me buds. Now, it’s time to join a few other bloggers in their weekly kickoff blog hops. First stop takes me to Stasha from The Good Life with Monday Listicles.
Today’s prompt is…. 10 THINGS ON MY CHRISTMAS LIST
- Peace
- Love
- Joy
- Generosity to all mankind
- Jobs for the unemployed
- Shelter for the homeless
- Food for the needy
- A present for every child on Christmas morning
- Prosperity for our nation & her people
- One nation under God
Next, I would like to take you to Heather’s place. She and her husband, Wayne, put together each week FOUR QUESTIONS to borrow and answer on your blog post, and then they give you the option to add a fifth question of your own for your blog visitors to answer in the comment section, along with commenting on the four questions you answered, if they want. If you decide to play along, then don’t forget to grab the MQAM badge for your blog/post from Acting Balanced and be sure to link up for the blog hop fun!
- Today is National Christmas Card Day – do you send Christmas Cards?
Yes, I have sent out Christmas cards ever since I got married in 1979. I don’t send out the volumes of greetings that I once did, but nonetheless I do keep with tradition.
2. What item do you “always” buy when it goes on sale at the Grocery Store?
Hmm, that’s a tough one. I usually go by my store list and if it’s not on it then I may not look for it. Of course, if I happen upon a bargain price on a regular item then I will snatch it up.
3. Certain flavours are associated with Christmas/December – what flavor do you most associate with the holiday season?
For me, peppermint is the first flavor that comes to mind, but I also love cinnamony scents at Christmas, too.
4. Do you think gift cards are a good idea for Christmas or are they a cop-out?
Honestly, a little of both. I have no problem when it comes to someone giving me a gift card or money. It’s an easy solution for those hard to buy people. However, I don’t feel comfortable giving a gift card because it may be saying to the person I present it to that I didn’t care enough to get ‘a present’ for him/her. Maybe, I’m a too old school in my thinking and perhaps others don’t even think this, but I would rather err on the cautious side than to make someone feel like they weren’t important enough to me to make the effort to present them something more imaginative & thoughtful.
Peppermint candy is one of the main things we buy every Christmas. In fact, it’s just about the only time of the year that we do buy it. We like Palmer’s peppermint patties, Pearson’s peppermint patties, Lindt Lindor mint truffles, Ghiradelli dark chocolate with white mint filling squares, and Dove peppermint bark to name just a few of the candies we enjoy. Geez, I just about forgot to mention, it’s customary for us to buy candy canes and soft peppermint sticks every Christmas season, too.
To complete my Monday morning ramblings, I want to skip over to Carissa’s for:
Yesterday, I baked a cake for DH. The original recipe I used came from allrecipes.com, but I modified it to suit our taste. If you’re looking for an Italian Creme Cake recipe then you may want to try this one.
