Q is for Quiet Time

Smoky Mountains Valley View near New Found Gap

As your morning breaks, reflect on these words found in Psalm 46:10.

“Be quiet and know that I am God.”

And, then enjoy the day filling refreshed and at peace!

Have you considered having your own personal quiet time? I have been randomly going on and off with finding my place with God in solitude. Life’s hurried nature creates chaos in my routine and I have not managed to grab the reigns to pull things to a swift halt.

The desire of my heart is to spend quiet time each morning with God but my human nature allows distractions to interfere with my plans.  I’m too tired right now after I’m awake or I need to get this task started before I do anything else or The house is too noisy and I can’t concentrate… The excuses are plenty, I know.

Why do I seek to have this walk? It’s simple, I want to have a deeper personal, loving, friendship with the Lord.

How should I spend my quiet time?  Ultimately, I want to devote a small block of time each day reading what God wants me to know from His word.  However, as I mentioned above life gets in the way with truly peaceful moments to spend reading.  At moments like this, I need to be creative to find other ways to have personal one-on-one quiet time with the Lord.

  • Play peaceful, inspirational music. (see below for free MP3 songs)
  • Keep a journal – write a letter to God for the day.
  • Find a special way to minister to others – make a hand-stamped card with sweet sentiments or call someone you love or write an inspiring post for your blog.
  • Use the Internet to find uplifting and awe-striking photographs or slide presentations of our world.  The Lord created this just for us.

Taking time…making time to spend with the Father isn’t hard to do.  I just need to re-condition my mindset to give into my heart’s desire.
