It was just a few weeks ago I was declaring my farewells to the unofficial end of summer and now it’s really fall. This is the first day of autumn! The change has definitely been felt especially in the overnight lows the past couple of nights dipping to the upper-40s. I wonder if Hurricane Sally has anything to do with the cool temps? Probably. I’m not complaining because I love it right now. It’s winter I’m not looking forward to but then you knew that, right? 😉
Daddy got to come from the hospital Saturday. I got to speak with him Sunday and he sounds a ton better than he did the previous week. They monitored him remotely for a few days. My niece who’s a RN is/was supposed to return the monitor to the hospital, so I’m not sure if that was done yet. I need to check in again with my folks today. I mentioned the doctor thinks he needs a pacemaker, but he isn’t budging on having that done. He’s stubborn as a mule! I think he’ll have PT come by the house for a bit. I’m not sure what that’s for. Do they do PT for patients with broken ribs? I’m glad he’s home. I just hope there aren’t any more incidents for either of my folks. Thanks for y’alls prayers!
A few nights ago, I made breakfast for dinner. Mmm, good!
The weekend mornings are the only time I can make a huge breakfast but I found encouragement from a blogger or two in recent months who serve breakfast for dinner and that’s what I did. It’s not that I haven’t done this before but rather it’s been a long over due practice. A month ago I took a page from a good blog buddy making wholewheat pancakes served with maple syrup and sausage for dinner. I failed to snap a picture of that fabulous switch-a-roo feast. I need to do that again soon!
Last night I fixed homemade pimento cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for dinner. Usually I’ll fix peanut butter sandwiches to go with the tomato soup but I happened to have everything needed on hand to make the pimento cheese spread. I absolutely love my recipe!
What do you do to kick off autumn? I’m sitting out my autumn mix candies. You know a mix of candy corn and pumpkins. I like eating a little of the sweetsy good stuff but mostly I like having it on display because it reminds me of my childhood and I incorporated it into our children’s upbringing. I’m tempted to have hot chocolate but the weather isn’t quite cool enough to have it yet. I’ll patiently wait. Maybe, I can make a batch of homemade marshmallows to pop on top of our hot chocolatey drinks when the time is purrfect!

During the summer while on a blog hiatus of sorts I prepared multiple future posts for CAAC. All I can say is it’s a good thing I’m double checking my content before it goes live because I’ve made some big goofs. Like I almost shared last week’s BoTB, results in yesterday’s post. *roll eyes*
Anyway, I used two of The Mamas & Papaws popular hits recorded by two different bands and asked y’all to pick the artist you liked the best. The results are in and counted revealing the Under the Radar winner to be…FOXES & FOSSILS with a 11 to 3 victory! It’s been awhile since I’ve had a battle to lean this fall to one side.
I appreciate everyone who took part in the voting process. It’s always a good idea to exercise one’s rights in this free society. My next showdown is slated for October 1st, so be sure to jot that important date down in your appointment book to return and do it again. I’ll leave you with another sample of today’s champs with their Neil Young “Harvest Moon” cover.
It’s time to grab a cup of coffee and follow along as I head off to visit Sandee for some Happy Tuesdays giggles at Comedy-Plus, then I’ll check out Random Tuesday Thoughts with Stacy Uncorked, and finishing things up by checking out this week’s word prompt found at Eugi’s Causerie for the wannabe poet buried inside.  That’s a wrap for now but come back tomorrow for Wild Wednesdays where just about anything goes! 😉
