Purrrs and hisses, Kittens & Dawgs! Last June I shared some pictures from Blowing Rock, North Carolina and I had every intention of bringing this one to you as part of my ‘church‘ photo series but never got around to it. I’m a firm believer of better late than never, so here it is finally. It’s a new year for new beginnings, right?
Over the years, I’ve photographed many churches, as you see in the collage I created above. You can find these on my blog if you use ‘church’ in my site’s search bar.
My grassroots are in the church raised by Christian parents and grandparents. My grandpa was an old-timey preacher, as is my daddy. Neither, attended a university or college to become scholars but instead relied solely on God’s leadership. It’s amazing what a humble man can teach others who thinks not with his head but listens for the words placed in his heart to give others. Through the simple clarity of my grandpa or daddy or another old-time preacher, I came to understand God’s sacrifice for me and the love He showed to the world on the cross at Calvary’s hill.
It was in church, I received the calling to come to Christ. The Bible says, ‘Blessed is he who believes and has not seen.’ It’s through faith I believe and trust Christ for all things. That sounds too easy, doesn’t it? You’re right it’s easier said than done because the reality is it takes repeated attempts to fully let go of one’s cares but I’m telling you once I allowed the One who collects and crushes the storms have full control over every situation in my life then I was rewarded with the calm that I needed to carry on.

Michael MacVean hosts this art challenge by offering artists regardless of your level with a prompt every other week to inspire your creativity. This week, he’s given us ‘My place/town/county/borough/province/ state (your pick)’ for inspiration. I decided to use my town football team – the Tennessee Volunteers! Go Big Orange!
I modeled my sketch after this logo I found on Google. I can’t wait until the day that I can create drawings from my head instead of relying on images from the internet to guide me. I’d like to use ink to outline and fill in with my Prismacolor pencils but I’m afraid I’ll screw it up. Do I gamble it or not?
My linky party is open to all regardless of what kind of post you have as long as you’re a personal blogger. ALL commercial websites, advertisers, or other spammy, non-fun links are subjected to immediate termination by the linky hostess!
Join me tomorrow for Thursday’s writing prompt. Have a blessed day and I’ll see ya around Blogosphere! 😉
