Daffy Duck

Good Monday morning! This is a busy day for me at Curious as a Cathy.  Earlier this morning, I hit the dance floor with the Monday’s Music Moves Me crew and if you’re looking to boogie with me, then click here, but don’t rush off before you get a chance to check out my newest Looney Tunes A-Z Art Sketch!

My next favorite Looney Tunes character probably is Daffy Duck.

Daffy was one of the first new “screwball” characters in the late 30s replacing everyman, humble and ordinary, characters.  Daffy Duck first appeared in Porky’s Duck Hunt April 1937 who was barely an unnamed character in this short with a personality moviegoers were accustomed to.  He was an assertive, unrestrained, combative star making him an explosive hit at the theaters. People left the movies talking about this daffy duck.   I found an example of Daffy at work in the short, “Fool Coverage”.

When I was a kid, I remember this skits of Porky Pig and Daffy but I’m more familiar with his pairing with Bugs Bunny (1951-1964) as the insecure, jealous rival determined to steal back the spotlight and failing miserably at it as seen in the collection of YT cartoon clips from the 2003 movie Back in Action with Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, and Steve Martin.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day.  I ask that leave a direct link for today’s post in comments to ensure others can find an easy way back to you.  Also,  over the last few months I’ve noticed many bloggers with use Gravatar do not have their active blog address linked to their profile.  You may want to double check yours to make sure it’s listed.  I’m heading over to the A2Z headquarters to see who’s joined the party now.  I hope to see you again tomorrow for the next letter in the alphabet in my Looney Tunes Art Sketch series!
