What a better way to beat Monday moodiness than to share of yourself, right? At the start of the month, I began answering a series of thought-provoking questions and I’m continuing the questions posed by The Organic Blonde (BTW, her URL no longer works) today. I found them to be very deep and sometimes hard to answer. Being someone who doesn’t mind to take on a challenge, I’m determined to bring to you a closer look at little ole me. You read last week’s Q&A responses, here.
21. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
Unfortunately, whether you’re a genius or simpleton worry is a sense that’s sometimes is inescapable. However, if I had to pick between the two then a ‘joyful simpleton’ sounds like a better life or at least happier one. lol. If you’re a genius, then people are always looking to you for the answer. Can you imagine the pressure of such a status? Even if you’re a genius, you won’t always have the answer to everything. Yeah, I hate to burst your bubble, if you’re one of those worried geniuses, but it’s the truth.
22. Why are you, you?
Because…I’m not someone else. I try to be me regardless of what others are doing or thinking. I follow the beat of my drum. Frankly, I don’t care what others think, what’s in style, what’s political right, what’s what. I listen to my own convictions, I will lay things out the way I see them whether you like it or not (don’t worry, I’m not brash with my comments. I’m a polite soul.) In short, I am the “real McCoy” (I’m not a McCoy or Hatfield. Although, I could be related to one or the other). I’m precisely the way the Lord wanted me to be and that’s the bottom line.
23. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
I’d like to think I have been. I’m certainly not without fault. I fall behind keeping up with those I love like the next person, but I try to go the extra mile to keep live connections. Friendships are very important to me.
24. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
Honestly, one is just as bad as the other. Unfortunately, this is just the way life goes all too often. Friendships never fade away, but they do become distant. I have some very dear childhood friends who I am still in contact with. We do not touch base, often, but you know if I needed one of my friends in a real emergency, I know in my heart they would drop everything to help me. That’s just the kind of friends I have in my circle.
25. What are you most grateful for?
I’m grateful for so much. It’s difficult to say what I’m the most grateful for. Not including the obvious number one pick by most of us – our husbands or family, then I’d have to say I’m most grateful for being healthy. This December, I’ll be 50. That’s a major milestone, wouldn’t you say? I count myself very blessed to have relatively excellent health. I have some aggravations, but nothing serious to complain about. I see women who are 20 or 30 years younger than me who are suffering terribly and I think I’m extremely fortunate to not be one of them.
26. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
This is way too heavy for me. To say I’d rather give up old memories is just about too much for my brain to wrap around, you know? I reflect on things all the time, which is one source of my happiness. I love thinking about my brother when we were kids (whose no longer with us) or my grandparents (who are aging & in poor health) or about our children when they were small or a thousand other fond recollections from the years gone by. To say never make new memories says I’m dead in which case, what does it matter if I can not make new memories, but to lose old memories would be like losing a piece of me and that would be so frustrating.
27. Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
Sometimes the truth is a gut reaction, you just know it’s true without having to have it proved.
28. Has your greatest fear ever come true?
Thankfully no.
29. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?
I guess not because I don’t remember. Perhaps, you’d care to freshen my memory. lol
30. What is your happiest childhood memory? What makes it so special?
Memories of my brother make me happy because he’s no longer here to make new memories with. I’m so thankful to have what few memories I do. I left home when I was 17, as that’s when I got married. My brother was 5 years younger than me. I don’t have many memories of him as an adult, but the few I have a precious.
I appreciate comments, so be sure to leave yours!
